Mature media does wonders eh?

:D Aye, it does. So what are the rules? When ammonia can go from 5ppm to 0 in under 12 hours its safe?
In a 13 liter tank and an ammonia solution 20 grams per liter how much ammonia will I need to get to 5ppm?

You want the ammonia to be at 3ppm, not 5.

I suggest you read the cycling article again :p

The calculator at the top of the page should help you determine how much is needed.

We have a betta!
He's a blue and red crown tail. Pics will com!

I didn't take the pics. Mine wouldn't be anywhere near as good.
I'll pass onto my GF that the stranger from the Internet thinks she has a nice finger LOL.

It really is a stunning creature.

Aargh! Just spent 10 minutes trying to calculate how much ammonia will be needed to get it to 3ppm. Still haven't figured it out.

God I hate math....

I have figured out that 4 syringe-capacities ( unknown volume about 3~ml ) = 24 ppm so 1 syringe = 6ppm.
So to figure out when I'm cycled I will put in 1/2 a syringe worth of ammonia which will bring me to 3ppm. Which then enables me to be able to see by what extent the ammonia level has gone down over a 12 hour period.

Sorry of what I just said makes no sense.
