LOL my grandma never has any idea about birthday gifts so we orders these great giant socks online. They're comfy as heck. I don't where anything else. :)

Nitrite is still present in reasonable quantities. Shrimp will be next week or maybe even the week after. I will snack feed ammonia today by order of eagles.

Snack feed results in 0.5-1 ppm of ammonia.Thats what quarter syringe is. :)

Ammonia is 0 again.
I'm just waiting for nitrite to get down to 0 then I'll put ammonia up to 3 ppm and see if its been processed to nitrate in under 12 hours.
Nitrite is about at 1.

I don't think there's a single thing more rewarding than knowing you have almost finished your fishless cycle.

Have to agree with you 100% there!

My Gf's little 15l BioOrb Flow cycle is about done too. Whoo!

A lot of satisfaction knowing things have been done correctly and less than 2 weeks to do a fishless cycle with pinched media from my main tank filter.

Nitrite and ammonia are at 0 at last. I will add ammonia to 3ppm and then test again in 24 hours to see what's left.  There is heavy nitrate presence.

Nice one mate :)

The nitrate will go down when you a large water change before adding any stocking.

Hopefully then nitrate will settle at reasonable level when you routine weekly water changes when it's cycled.

My BioOrb flow is the same, nitrites and ammonia at zero now but nitrate a bit high as well.

Just curious....where did you find your ammonia? Any chance they send to NZ? :p

:yahoo: for the 0 ammonia and nitrite!!! :band:

I'm using cloudy ammonia I spoke to the LFS attendant and a few friends and they said cloudy is fine just let all the stuff settle to the bottom first. It's working grey. The black and gold brand I'm using needs about 2mls to get the ammonia to 3ppm.

Thanks mate. Are your shrimp OK with the nitrate?

Ohhhh, so the cloudy stuff is okay?

Whenever I've asked everyone had said it would kill all the fish, no matter how much you rinsed the tank ????

I have heard from other people that it's okay, and imagine TT wouldn't use it if it wasn't, I think you're just supposed to rinse thoroughly with lots of dechlorinator?
Imagine he'll answer you in a bit though :p

yeah, my shrimps are ok with nitrates hovering around 40ppm. Buts thats in main tank, not in the cycling BioOrb, nothing in there except for plants and decor.

My brother used cloudy ammoNia to cycle his African Cichlid tank and a close ( rich ;) ) friend us do for his stingray tank.
Maybe it has something to do with the brand of cloudy ammonia?
One thing I've learnt though is let the ' bits ' settle on the bottom and never shake it.
