I have figured out that 4 syringe-capacities ( unknown volume about 3~ml ) = 24 ppm so 1 syringe = 6ppm.
So to figure out when I'm cycled I will put in 1/2 a syringe worth of ammonia which will bring me to 3ppm. Which then enables me to be able to see by what extent the ammonia level has gone down over a 12 hour period.
Sorry of what I just said makes no sense.

Why apologize this time?
LOL Good to know you've taken the time to read this far eagles :)

My ammonia has hit 0!!!
Nitrite still present. Not sure exact number.
Haven't tested nitrate yet.
I think I'm almost done. Ammonia It was at 5-6 yesterday. 0 today.

After nitrite goes down will it be ready for shrimp?

Yup, it should be good.

Give the ammonia bacs a 'snack' in 48 hours if the nitrite isn't at zero by then... like 1/4 of the syringe.

Testing nitrate now.
I don't think there's a single thing more rewarding than knowing you have almost finished your fishless cycle.
Nitrate is at 20ppm and nitrite is at 2-3ppm. :D

The plan is,
6-7 chameleon shrimp
6-7 Red nosed shrimp
Driftwood with moss growing up it
Stones placed in key positions.
Penny wort in the foreground
Native Vallis in the background

I'll see how it looks and then change it as I see fit. :)

I have 2 pieces of driftwood. One of them has no moss on it and the other has two pieces tied down. The second one will have 4 pieces and the first one will probably have about 5. I'm out of thread though.... I am hunting for new thread! :D

Everything is done and photographed. Pics will come as soon as they're uploaded.

BEST MONDAY EVER!!!
The driftwood took up more room than anticipated so there will probably only be one type of plant. :)

Pretty betta :) How come the water line is so low? I know you need to leave room for air but not sure if you need to leave that much. Does it have a lid? I forgot :(
The driftwood looks great! When are you going to get the plant(s)?

They'll come with the shrimp I think. The water line is low cos..... Well I don't know actually...
LOL I'll fill it up later. XD

Happy Birthday.

Endlers but with caution. If you went Endlers or guppies, I'd go male only as they are smaller, more colourful, and you wont have the problem of overpopulation.

The tank has cleared up a lot by now. I estimate that my nitrite will be 0 by tomorrow.

How long does moss take to attach to driftwood?
