Okay from the little batch i added earlier...

Ammonia = 0ppm
Nitrite = 0.25ppm

Just going to add the full dose now and I'll check again in 12/24 hours

Have been watching this thread with interest. I've started an FC today. Haven't done one for over 2 years, so I'm drawing on more recent experience, hope you don't mind.

Hey no problem!

I'd recomend not going on holiday half way through... that set me back quite a lot I think, plus I've missed a few doses that hasn't helped

Also, I didn't realize (for some reason) that I should add ammonia every 24 hours even if Nitrite is still present... I got mixed up some where and didn't add ammonia because Nitrite was still there... do'h!

Obviously helps if you're around every 12 hours to test, which I'm often not.

Added ammonia anyway... figured there isn't enough left to bother waiting another day!

24 hours after the last test (25 actually)

Ammonia = 1-2.0ppm
Nitrite =0ppm

Tested the pH due to the ammonia....

pH = 6-6.4!

I'm going to do a water change now... 50% or so - bit late though!!

Okay I've just changed about 80% of the water with nice fresh stuff... I added the de-chlorine stuff etc (need more now!)

1 question, I have to kinda throw the new water in at the moment, when I get fish I need a small pump or something to fill it up without stressing them - any recomendations (UK links would be good!)

Also what is the best de-chlorine stuff to get?

Having changed the water, I'm going to add another 5ppm of ammonia now (seeing as it's all been emptied out!) Hope that's the right thing to do! I will test all the 'vitals' tomorrow morning once it settles down
