Gr44's Fishless Cycle Log

Day 64 - Test 1 (17.5 Hours after dose)

Ammonia = 0ppm
Nitrite = 0ppm

Done one as soon as I got home... managed to get out a little early =D

One option that can work is if you have a neighbor family you trust with a kid interested in fish or science. Sometimes the parents will tag along to be sure things get done right and its relatively easy to give a set dose size of ammonia to have squirted in every day or every other day.

This problem has been discussed a number of times before and I believe in most cases most people came up feeling that dosing ammonia was a better option than leaving new fish right after they've arrived.

Hi all, I've been adding ammonia but been a bit lax in posting results... plus forums were down yesterday! Here are the latest results though:

Day 68 - Test 1 (12 Hours after dose)

pH = 7.6+
Ammonia = 0ppm
Nitrite = 0ppm

Horrah!!

Waterdrop, will see if my neighbour can throw some ammonia in once a day while I'm gone and get fish when I return... I know you're probably right and it's best to get them when I'm around for a good month or 2 so they are settled in.

If not my G/F might be able to pop round every 2-3 days and dose it for me... don't really want to ask as she lives about an hours bus ride each way! Takes me about 8minutes in a car lol
