Got My Tank

got 2kg of live rock today just to start me off. there are some sort of coral on one of the peices i think it is pulsing xana (sp) lots of copods swimming around and on one peice i got a snail of some sort only small about a cm. on this same peice there is i think some sort of small anemone. it is not aptista i think it is some sort of tourch it is only tiny though can you get small tourches. it too is about 1cm in length. i have tried getting a picture of it but my camera will not focus on it good enought. any ideas. it is sort of transparant light brown and on the end of each tip is like a white dot. no proper tenticles because it is small. i will try to get a picture up. later if i can.
thanks

well i dont have money to add it all in one go so it will have to do. it will still cycle the tank but slower. it doesnt matter if i add a few peices of live rock here and there

you will keep going through mini cycles which could kill the life on the corals if theyre exposed to it for a long period. see if you can get a bargain from someone breaking down a tank

but once the tank is cycled how can it be cycled again if i am keeping stats the same. what does the live rock do to the water besides add beneficial bacteria

i get water with mine my lr gets put into big fish bags filled with the water and i get it that way. would i get any rot off that way
thanks

you could still get a little. i would leave the LR in their with the pumps on and everything, save up or find a fellow reefer that will sell you 7 kg of live rock you should pay £70 maximum

Anyone selling any live rock haha. but if i get it mailed to me it will not be in any water so i will get rot off wont i. how long does it take for corals to come out properly after introducing to a tank because the corals i got on this peice of live rock are out but not fully out yet i think its only pulcing exuena or some sort of polyp but i want them to come out haha.
thanks

Slow down, dude. It's only day 1. :D
You need to test for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.
There should be ZERO ammonia AND ZERO nitrite before you should think about adding fish.
Are you going through with the clownfish? I also wouldn't reccomend it, 50 liters is only 13 gallons, that's pretty small. I'm assuming your testing your specific gravity (sg) as well?

PS if your having trouble paying for it all at once.. save up your money, THEN jump in. Theres no benefits to rushing.

you will get die off anyway, but it will be in one set time instead of over and over. if you get it from a fellow reefer (advertise that you want some on here and on ultimate reef) you go and pick it up so if you have access to a car with a boot get a big plastic storage tub and fill it with salt water and then put the rock in and drive home make sure its covered btw so no water splashes.

what you describe is probably a feather duster (google for pics)

yes going through with the clown fish. i havent tested for amonia yet i need 2 get a new kit as the one i HAD has suddenly vanished and i forgot to get one today. ph is 8.2 and saltiny is 1.023 i am hopin to raise to about .25 by tommorrow.

nope its not feather dusters i have got them also it is a coral i will search some corals then post a pic of them. can anyone identify that little anemone thing.
thanks

no its not aipteista i know what they look like. the coral i have on my rock look a bit like this

but they are only in small clusters and they are scattered all around on the rock aswel. the anemone thing is tiny. it hasnt got a dstem like aipteista and has little balls at the end of its tenticles which are white.
