hi there!
i was at a co-worker's house and we got to talking aobut my fish, and she told me about her 2 goldfish and then showed me 2 fancy, fantail goldfish (i think) in a bowl less than 1 gal. she said her kids don't pay any attention, and she might flush them. i told her to let me know and i would take them before she did that. i searched this site, and it looks like they would need 10 gal each? is this correct? i may just see if i can find an LFS/LPS to take them back. any advice or help is greatly appreciated!

Yup, that's correct, 10 gallons for each goldfish, minimum. They grow quite large, and quickly... and because their body is so much thicker than tropicals, they produce that much more waste.
