Goldfish Issues

Hi I wondered if anyone could help, I had three goldfish that I won at a fair (shocking I know!) Two of the fish were being kept in a tiny bowl crammed with other goldfish and the other was in a bowl alone. We bought a huge tank for them however the one that had been alone kept attacking the other two chasing them and bumping into them which was causing damage and making them poorly so they had to be moved and a friend has had them for about 6 months now and the one with us has a 150ltr tank to himself. Recently however he has been acting strange and is more active than usual and gets excited and irratic when I go near his tank, today he has been jumping up out of his water which he has never done before. I have had the water checked and it is fine and as soon as I put his light on and gave him some attention he immediately calmed down. I think he is bored or lonely however after how he was with the smaller goldfish wondered whether there is another fish he may get on with or whether it may help to get a fish bigger then himself? Any advice would be appreciated thanks ☺

welcome. I would get another gold fish really. now im not a goldfish pro, I've never had one and have little knowledge period. of goldfish. but id say get another, but do some research first cause im probably wrong lol

I am betting the one that was bumping the others is a male. He is showing typical breeding behaviour.

We need the actual stats for the water, Just saying fine makes it so that it is extremely difficult to assist.

With a tank that big and great water quality, you have nothing to worry about. I would suggest getting some tank mates for the goldfish. Maybe a school of tetras or top to mid water swimming fish. Fish tend to beg for food so they can splash or jump when they think it's feeding time. Just remember, goldfish don't have stomachs so they will have to be fed throughout the day (2-3 times). I use them in my red ear slider turtle tank because they eat all the crumbs from the turtle's messy eating habit which lowers the load of my filter.

Goldfish belong with goldfish.....

Any tetra would become food, actually small fish in general will become food.

I never had an issue with mine eating tank mates but I always put in all my fish at once to prevent territorial dominance and the tank doesn't have to go through so many nitrogen cycle spikes. But I do have to agree with alasse. I can see it happening when given an opportunity to fit a fish in its mouth.
