whooo i have my fiji live rock and mixed my own salty water so far the hitchikers i have seen a few starfish, a couple of snails, these tiny insect like things and a strange red thing, kinda like a milipede but under water aslo on the lr i have a few polyp things, photos will be up later tonite

i will upload photos in a couple of mins but at the moment all is good

my sg is 1.025 and temp is 26 celcius
im getting water properly tested tmorrow

ive just seen a crab !!, dont know wheter to be happy or worried. Ill try to get a photo and mabye Id

oh this is so exiting, may not bother with fish lol rock watching is great

What do the Starfish look like?
The insect things could be pods, do a google image search for Copepods or Amphipods and see if they are the same. The millipede is probably some sort of Bristleworm, or perhaps a Fireworm.

thanks guys. Ive seen 3 crabs now should i worry about them for when i get corals? there hard to photograph, but the best i can describe them as is brown and hariy and about 1cm across.

yes those incects to look like amphipods and i think the milipede was a fire worm, thanks for the id

i had to do a re aquascape today as the rockwork befor was really unstable, and ive yet to invest in some of that glue, however i tryed again to incorperate hidy holes for fish and space for corals

so, so far i am very happy, no diasasters yet

im not sure, both the pincers are a similar size, i have a couple of photos i took last night, they didnt come out too great, but ill try to upload them

can anyone give me advice on how to use the skimmer. When i turn mine on, the collection cup just fills with water?

what should happen? is this right?

Open/close the air valve, just play with it until the water level goes down

how long would you guys reccomend befor i add my CUC. I havent yet tested the water for nitrates and nitrites etc but will do soon.

also what cuc do you reccomed? i was thinking a shrimp of some kind and 4 hermits? too much, too little ?

i think ive Id that crab as a gorillia. Im gonna try and catch it, Any tips?. thing is ive got nowhere to put it, and i dont wanna kill the little guy

anywho, all is going well, the tank was a little warm but cooled down now.

when you have tested and had a nitrite spike, then a nitrate spike and then when your nitrates are less than <10 - do a 50% water change, wait 24 hours, test again

you have the 45o don't you:

4 sandsifting snails - ceriths/nass
i hermit
1 shrimp
1 turbo

you can always more later if needed
