That’s so cool to hear about you wanting to make your aquarium a full planted aquarium

Let me know if you need help in the planted aquarium department

Thank you! I was thinking of adding some plant pallets over the gravel and then a couple inches of sand. Would that help the plants to root better?

You have a nice aquarium for somebody that’s just starting out . My only advice is to get rid of the Plecostomus . That creature will grow and it will be a nuisance and it will foul your aquarium with its long stringy spaghetti turds and you will resent that fish so just rehome it now . Welcome to The Great TFF Forum . This is a great group .

I personally would not recommend adding sand to your aquarium

Your plants will root in the gravel slowly

I like to use rubber plant anchors when I put new plants in my planted aquariums

The plants will slowly remove them off of them selves

Okay thank you, I appreciate your advice ^_^
Do you think that root tabs would be beneficial? Also how often should I vacuum the gravel? I've literally never done that in almost 4 months of having my tank and I think that might be a contributing factor as to why my water is just a tad bit cloudy. Also overfeeding which I have cut back on. Anymore I do a small pinch of flakes and then add another small pinch after they polish that off. I also do about a medium size pinch of dried blood worms and then the sinking pellets for my frogs. I had to cut on how much pellets I give them and just spread it out more across the tank.

Yeaaa that's probably pretty accurate. My mom always had a plecostomus in her fish tanks and that thing got pretty big. I think they're probably meant for a much larger tank like 125 or 150. There's one and one of the very large fish tanks at Cheddar's and that thing is massive. For sure this seems like a great group of very friendly and helpful people 💜

I like to clean my substrate once a week

I do a 50% water change each time

This helps reset the aquarium water

As some of us would say

If you have a common pleco.

Find it a new home as soon as possible

I had a common pleco once

It was almost feet long

I was lucky enough for my aquarium

Who I work with a lot to him in for me

One day he got very upset with something

He trashed a very large aquarium breaking everything in side of it

I was shocked that he didn’t break the aquarium glass

Hi Emma, welcome to TFF...:hi:
I love the probably fake wooden sculpture in there... Makes it more natural...

Welcome! That's a cool little community tank you have there. I keep ADF's myself, the only thing I would say is that 75g is probably too deep for them, they're not great swimmers. Personally I would keep them in a smaller tank either to themselves or with something peaceful like pygmy cories. That way you can target feed them and ensure you're not overfeeding the tank. Those pellets are probably sinking down in between the gravel and decaying in there.

Also I wouldn't worry about adjusting your pH unless you want to start adding RO water and remineralising it. Your fish can get shocked from sudden pH changes (trust me, I know from experience - lost all my fish and only my ADF's survived) so I'd just work with what you have naturally.
