Full-On Overhaul Journal

Will a tiger lotus keep it's color in a lower light setting? They are lovely! I already know I love echinodorus ozelot's. I tried to add color with the kleiner bar sword and the ludwiga and they didn't keep the reds in the lower lighting.

Once or twice a week I mix a little extra ferts for the 75g and put a little in here. I wanted this tank to stay as easy as possible.

That's why I asked for a suggestion, I knew someone else's eye would see what I wasn't :p Thnx! I would like to add some more grass in the foreground too. The Egeria Densa would be better in the corner. I really love that stem plant and am pleased it is doing so well for me now that I have stopped dosing excel.

Means a lot Dieses, Thanks! I was eyeballing your vallis in your new planted tank. I really like where you are going there and can see pieces that you brought from the hex tank that look so much better now. I think the hex shape was throwing off the actual scape.

hehe Because my hubby spoils me rotten, and we got our money back after an identity theft fiasco, I went ahead and ordered a tiger lily bulb and some more micro sword. I figure, if it doesn't do well with lower light, I can move it into my high light tank. If that happens I'll try one of the Swords that have markings {like an ozelot} which will break up the colors.

I always have a ton of flowers in pots and gardens outside, and lots of houseplants but I have to say that aquarium plants are my favorite.

edit: typos are irritating.

I need to find some more vallis and hopefully my swords will pic up speed and grow nicely. The hex was def. a pain to scape and now its dismantled and on the verge of being sold. never getting a hex again!

You had a good thing going in your hex, but the tank shape was getting in the way.

This bowfront has issues too. I have a very hard time photographing it well without a professional camera. I will keep trying though :)

I think you're doing a fine job photographing, and your tank is beautiful! Really love the nice healthy plants.

My tank is a Bowfront too!! We are actually going to get more light colored wood that matches the background. Might be pulling out the mopani. I want to find a nice big branching piece.

That would be pretty. light wood vs. dark. Everyone uses dark wood. The lighter color would stand out :good:

   My hubby was out with the kids so I could do water changes without my 2 year old under my feet "helping mommy." Anyway, he came home with a plant from petco which is very sweet, only I had no where to put it lol It was an Echinodorus bleheri, and a quite lovely little one, props to hubby for a good eye. He must be listening to SOMETHING I am saying. Shocker!

Anyway, I have 3 in my 46g already and none in my 75g...I didn't want to put anything in the 75g though because I may be breaking that tank down for a restart. I stuck it in my 10g. Hope it doesn't outgrow the tank :look:

Sorry for the little story, I just thought it was cute. Most husbands bring home flowers and mine brings home aquarium plants!

Ahahh, looking good and sounding good so far :) Keep it up :hyper:

Love how your husband is so supportive, maybe he's a little jealous and wants to get himself in on it too? ;)

:fun: He was the first one to mention having a fish tank someday, which launched me into a relentless month of research. He never knew what hit him. I am the addict and he is the enabler.

Thats looking better...really healthy. You are doing things the right way in my book, you are learning to grow plants, you then can and probably will start to expand on that. Well done.

Thank you. No one needs to mention my "jump into the deep end thread" I feel the beginnings of pride in this tank. Now if I can heal the fish from the internal parasites, courtesy of my lfs, I will be on the right track. I definitely have learned a lot in the last few months.

Nice job
