Yay! I went to my tank to find that my guppy had gad around 20 babies. :) This si my third time. ONe died though, and it was my first fry ever to die the first day. 2 more look a bit unhealthy but it has been a day now and i dont see his sack n e more so it must have gone away. Anyways I am so happy! I cant take any mmore fry though so for the next batch of guppies i will have to let nature take its course. But I am still waiting for some molly and or platy fry. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!

Good for you. :D

However, if you are waiting for at least 2 more batches of fry and can't take care of the one you just had, why don't you:

Get another tank for rearing fry
Give some fish away
Sell the fry at that age as food

no i can take care of those fry just i dont want any more guppy fry for now. But thatnks anyways. I love it how i always get help on this site!

Also I am raising a batch of about 50 to sell to the pet store. After that i will have more room for the fry. I am working on foliage for my molly tank so i can keep the molly babies in there, as the filter holes arent that big and the babies wont be sucked in so i need to have more plants that they can hide in. I currently have 7 very small ones and 2 just abou 12" ones.

Just out of curiosity, what type of guppies are those? If they're somewhat rare, you might be able to sell them on TFF. Or you might be able to sell them as food if you want (though you'd have to find someone who'd trust your stock and who'd live near you).

Anywho, I probably sound as though I want you to sell your fry. That's not the case; just trying to make you some money. I'm sure your other fish are getting lots of protein and fish are benefitting from your fry, anyways, though.

i am not sure. 2 batches are from 1 mother and then another was from a different one. But i dont know what kind they are. I think one of my males is a tequita sunrise guppy, but i am not sure. The pet store just said fancy guppies. I hate it how they label things either wrong or not descriptive enough. It angers me. lol.

You got the tequila sunrise guppies form petsmart, right?

Well, I'd say you mgiht be lucky if the colors aren't muddled. Look around to see if any lfs'll buy livebearers. if so, then it might be worth it to expand.

hey neoman congrats on the guppy fry. im startein a 10g guppy tank myself this summer. im goin to be doin alot of breeding and my lfs will take them wen they are grown and find them good homes. getting rid of the fry for food is also an ok idea but sum places like my lfs have so many fry that they just cant take any more. -_-

also gl on ur molly fry i hope they do well. :p

thanks everybody and no i didnt get what i thinkis a tequita sunrise guppy at petsmart i got it at petco

Hey there Neoman
I know what it is like to have fry. I bought a balloon molly yesterday on my way home from work (well I got 2) any way one was heavily pregnant and I suspected as much when i bought her. Shortly after introducing her and her friend to the tank (I put the pregnant one straight into a hatchery) she began to give birth. I sat for hours watching all the little fry drop into the world (it's fascinating to watch). I took the odd break from watching to come and post on this forum questions and pics as this is my first batch of fry ever.

bump bump bump bump bump bump bump bump bump
do every bump to a note of a song

I have molly fry, from a white sail fin molly, I was amazed at the comment from earlier, about selling them as feeder fish.... I would never think of doing that to my fry....I can't even imagine anyone doing that.

i never said that. I just cant take care of any more gupppy fry so i am gonna let nature take its coure. I would never sell fish as feeders. I need the room that I have left for mollies
