IP rights still apply on the internet.

And under UK law you do not have to have something copyrighted, everything you produce or write is your copyright automatically(be it a BASIC program, a hypothesis on anitmatter as an energy source or a profile on a fish) unless you actively sign it away.

And pursuing doesn't have to cost the earth. So long as you can prove it was you that originally wrote it (in this case the dates on the posts should be fairly conclusive as the date stamps will also be held by impartial servers) then you should be able to find a solicitor to act on your behalf on a CFA (Conditional Fee Agreement - "No win, no fee") basis to pursue.

Sadly most people do not know their rights, nor how accessible legal advice and representation is in the UK.

I would agree IF the stakes are high. In cases where a photograph or a fish profile has been used by someone without permission I doubt you would get a solicitor to take the case. Where there is little or no money involved or where damages are difficult to demonstrate there's really nothing in it for the solicitor. What I stated above is more for the sort of situations we've been discussing in this thread. You are quite right but in most cases it's just not worth the trouble.

And why is nothing being done about Aqua-Forums who have stolen all the TFF stuff? They even wrote to PFK & other fish stores saying the profiles were theres!, So if they get mentioned in a magazine for YOUR profiles i guess you will all be annoyed & is why i think something should be done

As far as i know all the profiles have been edited to just contain basic statistic information that can be found anywhere on the net, all the personal thoughts have been removed.

they are still online & visable to most members, they have also been talking about trying to PM your members asking them to join aqua-forums & they have been looking into TFF partners (the banners at the top), to try & ask them directly to change their support, all this has to be stopped

Anyway, I signed up on that forum some time ago. Just being nosey curious and keeping tabs on what was going on over there. I have no knowledge of what you are talking about. How do you know about all of this?

As far as I can see, all of the offending profiles seem to have been removed. They got caught and it would appear that the issue is now closed.
