I really don't mind "pest" snails. I see them as a crucial part of my tank ecosystems. I remember going on holiday to North Wales and seeing rocky beaches full of snails/molluscs that were spotless from algae and detritus so I thought why can't that be the case in freshwater? I can also easily control population numbers if needed too :)
 
Side note: the pics in this thread are officially responsible for triggering a relapse in my multiple tank syndrome after 8 years of strictly limiting myself to just two marine tanks. So congrats...y'all made me fall off the wagon and now I've gone and set up a 2gal Planorbid bowl.
