Negrito or Negro isnt a racial slur in Uruguay its only because it sounds similar to a certain word we all know, even if Suarez did mean it offensively nobody heard anything that was said in the box when Evra got aggy then he told Suarez 'don't touch me, south american' to which Suarez replied 'Porque, Negro?' So no evidence for Suarez saying anything before being racially abused himself, so surely Evra should have the same punishment? Evra even said he didn't think Suarez was a racist which was accepted by the FA which said the same, so why all this? FA where out to get Suarez, 8 match ban is ridiculous just can't get my head round it with the lack of evidence and the cultural differences, hoping Liverpool appeal it.
Really? We need to get something straight here, you will get away with calling someone who is a close friend a negrito, but you will not get away with calling it to an acquaintance, especially one of African stock. It is racist in the UK. It's like when he bit that player...'but..but it's OK in Transylvania' it doesn't wash. He's guilty accept it and move on.
Yeh i understand that, although in Luis's mind it wasn't as bad as its been made out to be, because of how we look at 'racism' in this country, not saying he should get no punishment but due to no real evidence of racial abuse just the fact he used a natively accepted word which we consider to be really bad because it points out hes black and people knowing hes not actually racist the punishment he got is a bit much IMO, Evra should have gotten something for 'pointing out' he was south American, same thing no? Dunno see how appeal goes he has the full support of the Uruguayan FA aswell as the club.
