Ok--I've got a very interesting one that probably is easy to find but good to know about.   What is the biggest aquarium on earth and how many gallons does it hold?

I was going to say 'The Pacific Ocean', but I haven't a clue how many gallons it holds.  I'll just say it holds 'more than your bathtub'.

Coral are animals not plants, so why do corals require light to survive?

they need light to photosythesize and grow

but coral aren't plants... so you need to explain that a bit more.

Soft corals need less light, and for stony species they require more light and under go photosynthesis to produce food?

"Photosynthesis is a process used by plants and other organisms to convert light energy, normally from the sun, into chemical energy that can be laterreleased to fuel the organisms' activities. This chemical energy is stored in carbohydrate molecules, such as sugars, which are synthesized from carbon dioxide and water"

I know what photosynthesis is... but what does it have to do with coral - an ANIMAL?

They feed on algae that needs sunlight to survive so without it the algae would not grow and they wouldnt eat?

They do not feed on algae.

They let algae grow with in their tissue and the algae or zooxanthellae provides food and oxygen to them.
