I recently setup my 5 gallon hex with sand, smooth rover rocks, and a single Ludwigia. I know the obvious choice is a betta, but i am tired of bettas and I want to try some new nano fish.

What are some possible suggestions?

hi
well you can check on
paradise fish, tetras, danios, guppies, and sparkling gouramis
maybe you will like one of those

is it cycled?

of yes, then you could get 1 paradise fish

or a school 0f 6 ember tetras

or get 20 cherry shrimp

or wait and see what otheres put up.

Hm... Bettas have a lot of variety, there are many tail types besides the common veil tail: Double Tail, Plakat, Halfmoon, and Crowntail, to name a few. Just in case you didn't know. :good:

Anyway, you could also keep 2-3 ADF's, or a colony of shrimp, or a single dwarf puffer(barely know what these are, but were suggested to me when I had a 5 gallon), a shoal of ember tetras, or some pygmy cories.

Some other choices are Heterandria formosa or golden teddies. They are two different very small livebearers.

have you considered african dwarf frogs? you could have 2 or 3 in the tank nicely and it would be something different for you

a small school of dwarf Rasboras might work. I saw them in the LFS today, they look pretty cool, and tiny.

sparkling gourami
an african dwarf frog
and 3 or 4 ghost shrimp

thatd look nice, just get some hidin spots to make the frog and shrimp comfortable.
