Hi, new to keeping fish, i have Betta which was kept in a biorb 30l for 2 months with no problems he always looked healthy. I wanted more fish and was not happy with the biorb so i have bought 2 new tanks about 3 months.

Juwel 60l internal pump heater & tetra 60l with internal pump heater.

In the Tetra tank i have the following fish

My Betta
2 x alibino cory
3 x dalmation mollys
4 x Harlequin rasbora

The tank was cycled for about 4 weeks before i introduced the betta and over the last 6 weeks the rest have been introduced. I get the water checked weekly by my local tropical fish store and everything seems to be ok.

Recently the betta's fins look ragged for want of a better word and was wondering could it be fin rot. Picture below noth best quality due to the image file limit. From the picture what do you think?

Thanks in advance

I'm sorry you didn't get an answer more quickly. This is a very busy forum and sometimes, unfortunately, some posts do get missed.

That doesn't look much like fin rot to me. I would concentrate on keeping the water quality up and see if it improves that way before you think about meds.

Agreed with Fluttermoth. Keep an eye that tank mates aren't harassing him either- if they're nipping at his fins, or stressing him out at all he could end up biting at his own tail. I would do small daily water changes and feed him food soaked in vitazin or garlic juice, that should give him enough of a boost for any fin damage to heal :good:
