I know most peoples answer is going to be to go external, but I can't afford that at the moment.

My question is, ive recently got an Aquaone Regency 80 tank which is 180 litres. I have upgraded this tank from my 90 litre bow front. In my 90L bowfront, I used an Eheim Pickup 2012 Filter which was great. I have put this filter in my new tank because it says on the box that it can handle 200 litres. Im sure its fine, but Im thinking of adding another Eheim 2012 to the tank. Does anyone think this is necessary or not?

If you have the funds for it, theres nothing wrong with some extra filtration power. My 125 gallon will have 220 gallons of filtration. Powered External ( the ones that hang over the back ) can be pretty cheap in comparison to canisters

Well if you had that filter in your old tank, that had half the volume of your new tank, then sticking in an other shouldn't be a problem. The only thing I can think of, is that the current might be pretty strong. So of its possible, maybe turn the flow on each filter to a more gentle setting. Bit other than that.... can't see a problem.

The way the one I have now flows towards the front center of the tank, if I get one on the opposite side and point it in the same direction it should be ok, yea?

http://ca-en.hagen.com/Aquatic/Filtration/Clip-On/A620 It looks like the regular ones you get from the 20ish gallon Aquarium kits but instead of the single filter pad it still has the sponge, carbon, and the biomax

If you have 1 (on the left) pointing out toward the front, then have the 2nd (on the right) pointing along the back, so that the water can circulate all the way round the tank.
If they both point to the front, it'll cause a bit of a ripple, and probably a few dull areas at the back of the tank.

Hope that makes sense? :)

Makes perfect sense, im hoping to find an external filter soon. Just need to figure out how to change it over without losing all my media in my internal!!

Just run the new external for a couple of weeks with the existing filters still going then chuck all the old filter media into the new external when the time comes to remove the old ones

Hi..I have the same filter in my 180ltr new setup...I am using it in conjunction with a Tetra 700 external.
The Eheim is fine but water flow cannot be regulated so you might have problems with the strong current.
Perhaps an external filter or an internal with flow regulation might help.
