^ I agree with Andie.

But, I also find it interesting that in a 75 gallon, with many other fish, many of which are probably much larger, they still find each other to bicker and fight. Oh, bettas.

Bettas will find an enemy in the biggest of tanks I am convinced. I put one of my male bettas in my 120 gallon to see how he got along with the other fish....he bullied almost half of them.
 Now he's in his own 10 gallon.

I believe that, too. But here we have living proof.
*note to self

They can't just stake claim and be happy never seeing each other, no. Impossible!

well right now i dont kno wat 2 do i took 1 betta out & hav him in a lil bowl thing that they come in from the pet store & my other tank has pirahanas in it & i dont think he'll feel 2 safe in thier

Please do not even consider placing him with the pirahnas, unless you want a dead betta. For now, taking the one out will at least keep them from killing one another. That is def. a step in the right direction; thanks for listening to us.
Make your the bowl your betta is in now is covered with something breathable. Bettas are good jumpers, as you discovered when yours hopped out of the barracks, so he could easily hop out then dehydrate to death. If you do not have a lit that came with it, you could put something like a thin sheet of plastic with air holes, or some other breathable substance, over the top for the time being.
A betta bowl, however, is not a long term solution. Bettas need a minimum of 1 gallon space, a consistent temperature (ie heater), and frequent water changes. So, if you can, try and see about getting a little 1gal+ tank with a lid. I don't know how easily you could heat such a small tank, as most require at least 2 gal for a heater, but perhaps other members here with small tanks could give you some ideas.

it has a hole in it & u wouldnt happen 2 kno where i could get sum alomod leaf from do u cuz i asked the guy @ the pet store & he looked @ me like i was crazy & he never heard of it

Indian Almond Leaf can be bought online. Check out eBay and Aquabid. You can also find links there to suppliers, at least one of whom is bound to ship to your area, and may even be located nearby.

I think the importance of IAL has been played up to you by someone. It really isn't vital for your betta's health; if anything, its main use is encouraging bubblenesting and breeding behaviors. For a pet betta that isn't being bred, the fish should be just fine in an IAL-lacking environment. It really is not essential at all.

According to the poster's profile it is a 55 gallon. 2 bala sharks, one plec, 2 giant danios. Of course other fish may have been added since the profile. The other tank mentioned in these posts appears to a 20 gal housing a single golden piranha.

ouch. i hope you dont write like that in school, i can barely understand it. there is no shame in using legible english.

anyway, youre in union county? try absolutely fish, it's an amazing store in paterson ( www.absolutelyfish.com ) . if you can't get the leaves you can probably get IAL extract. actually, you may be able to find it locally, too. i got a bottle from a nearby independent store. it may also be called ketepang extract.

This whole story seems fishy imho.

I think this person is trying to sucker some folks...big time.

Here we have problem #1.

I wanted to know if there was any where I could get any indian almond leaf in Union county, New Jersey or a web sight or something...
When people come on asking for items/help, then they are given the place to buy it/the way to fix the problem..all of a sudden "mom" won't go for.

What a convienent excuse "mom" seems to have become recently.

Even though mom bought a 55 gallon tank, and mom bought a 20 gallon, and mom bought a pirahna, and mom even bought all these other fish..but she won't buy $5 worth of IAL...I dunno that just always seems odd to me when I see it come across here.

I swear the new fad this year must be that Moms everywhere turn into uncaring, illogical, fish killing beasts!

You asked for a website, you were given one, now "mom" won't go for it..classic excuse.

And on the off chance you wanna say Mom didn't buy all those things, then where did they come from? And why won't that person buy the stuff for you...since you asked for a website?

All that aside, personally, I think you bought/obtained the 2 bettas, stuck them together, and one got whupped pretty bad.
I think you've read just enough about bettas and fighting them to figure out trainers use IAL to condition them, and you thought you'd get some and make your fish tougher, then try fighting them again.
And now, because of all the negative feedback to fighting your fish, you've tried to change your story, but it has more holes in it than a slice of swiss cheese.

Here we have problem #2.

No one says:
...if there is any way to make my fighter tougher? I have 2 fighting fish, and when I put them together they both flare up, but then they stop. Sometimes the look like they're gonna go at it, but they never do.
If they are talking about 2 fish being in the same tank, and those 2 fish just "happening" to run into each other.

Those 2 sentances (as badly written as they were) are clear indicators that you put them together purposefully, in hopes that they would tear into each other and entertain you. And, since they haven't done what you wanted them to, it's quite obvious that you want to try and make them do it, eventually..for whatever kicks, by using the IAL.

There is a quote that fits this situation well....

"There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all."
Peter Drucker

SRC is a grown woman, I doubt her mom throws money at her

Anyway, I do think that was a little out of line SRC. Lots of parents aren't very enthusiastic about giving out their credit card numbers online, so in this case the "mommy" excuse could be very valid.

o my falut no dis respect by that but u get wat i mean my mom checked mad stuff b4 she would order my fluval 404 THAT I PAID 4 from solutions.com
