I don't know about now but back then in the main lab we used big multi channel autoanalysers and many people just fiddled with them if they weren't working properly and often made things worse. I preferred the smaller side labs as those were more hands on rather than automated.

"Holy poop Batman" usually expressed when things are bigger or more eventful than expected. I can say it in front of the grandson, though mom usually frowns at me. Last remembered use when I used too much gas to start a brush burn, singeing my knuckles and eyebrows.
