Example of the WORST aquarium video on youtube ever!!!

I studied zoology at uni in my first year as one of my three subjects and animals were everything from amoeba to primates.
Exactly. Science says: animals are all living moving things like mammals, insects, and fish but people who aren't scientists have had the word "animal" turned into a relative term like what @Essjay said: "some people think animal= mammal"

You were learning about living organisms... Not JUST animals. And today... Were taught that as well but in a different way... Ive done that class and passed it but I forget some of the things they've said
By the most basic of definitions, living organisms comprise of animals and plants, with some bacteria and yeasts inbetween.
I've just been checking with my Bro-in-Law, who is a teacher of 11 to 16 year olds...animals have always included everything that isn't plant or mineral and still does.
Scarey that you actually passed it and came away not knowing what animals are. :-(

I was playing head up with my younger cousins once, and I was an octopus. I asked “am I an animal” they said yes, so I asked “am I a mammal” and my older cousins who were also playing (the youngest cousins wanted us to) were like “what’s a mammal again?”

I was like “ummmmm. You don’t know?”

.... Again, I know what animals are... I was just saying what some people think.

Well, its not the facts people look at, at times... Its what they think about it. Like a mosquito is a living and complex organism, but we've all killed a few without even thinking about it. If you think about it the word "animal" is a relative term. Ask a person to name 3 animals and you might get bears, elephants, dogs, and plenty of other things but I guarantee fish isnt on their top 10 list. Insects and fish ARE scientifically considered animals but people dont think of them that way.
But it IS the fact and it's unfortunate that people are ignorant of such very basic facts.
It is not a belief or an opinion, it is fact.
'Animal' is NOT a 'relative' term...it's a scientific term...and as long as people like yourself talk some complete ignorance, then misinformation spreads and continues.
If I was amongst a group of people, older than 35, who had paid attention at school and asked them to name animals, any animals, I can guarantee that whilst mammals might dominate, birds, insects and fish would get a mention.

I think the the argument is more the ethical or moral definition of animal. The argument is that "lower" animals do not have pain and feel feelings. I do not agree, but the discussion can't use separate words such as sex and gender.

Yeah not even watching because I don't want to give them the views.

There are some horrible things on YouTube. My daughter loves watching hamster videos on YouTube where they run mazes and stuff.

A lot of them are great, the animals are obviously cared for. Some of them not so much and you can clearly see these animals being hurt or in distress. If it was done to a dog people would lose their minds over it.

rummynose tetra can tell you if they are stressed by the brightness of their head.
Bright red = happy
faded red = stressed
