hmm...i have to agree with kitty. i don't think that all poor people that have sick dogs, even have the time to make a fund raiser. if the dog is deathly sick, i wouldn't want it to wait on me to get the money....i'd wanna get it over with.

as for sadie, she still thinks she's a frisky young lap dog.....theres just no convincing her! lol.
thats great steppy!
i am keeping my fingers crossed that your dog keeps progressively getting better :flex:
will i get arthritus for keeping my fingers crossed for a long-long time?

Unfortunately not all euthinazitons at the Vet are peaceful. My best friend's dog fought the IV and it took several tries to get it in. When they finally did give the lethal injection the chemical they used stung her dog horribly (a rare but not totally unheard of instance) making "Gizzy" cry with pain until he fell to sleep. Not a good outcome for all involved and although it was very necessary to do,Gizzy was 14 a diabetic and all his organs where failing, my best friend still cries when she thinks about how his last moments where.

raki, that sounds horrible :-(
gawd i would hate for that to happen...that would just tear me appart.

she's still limping bad and everything....but she just don't care. i'm glad that her attitude towards all this is so positive. lol....but i doubt she even realizes whats going on.

aww...theres a bunny outsides and it's just bugging the hell out of her that she can't go out....

thanks :D

me too...GRR...if only she knew that moving around more is bad!!! we have to really yell at her if we want her to lay down for a while....then she thinks we're very mad at her, and that she's done something wrong!!! and she only lays down for about 2 minutes if we don't say it like we mean it!

if she rests enough, then she could give it a chance to heal....i don't know how it all works, but thats what my dad said......AFTER it gets better enough that she'll put more weight on it, then she'd have to excersize it....i doubt she'd have trouble doing that.....but till then she's gotta rest :/

Well, I've worked in several vet surgeries, and I've witnessed some deaths which were terribly sad. Then again, it doesn't sound as though the dog had a very good end, but I would never, ever shoot my dog. Someone else may do.

I didn't read through all the posts so sorry if this has already been suggested but..
Is it possible to just amputate the leg?? Surely that won't cost severel hundred dollars.

I though about that too. It would be much cheaper and dogs adapt very quickly to losing a leg and most move just as fast as they did before the amputation. I thought of mentioning it a few pages back, but it doesn't sound like any vet bills are an option. :dunno: I also don't know exactly where the injury is, it could be too high to have that be an option. :dunno:

gawd....i accidently hurt her today. someone came to the door, and she got excited, and when i went to pull her back like i normally do, she yelped and sat down and wouldn't get back up. she was silently yelping....everytime she took a breath you could hear a real quite whimper. it was just me and my bf home then, and i told him to go do something for me, and while he did i couldn't help but to break down crying. as hard as i tried not to, i just couldn't help it. gawd i hope she pulls through this. i just couldn't imagine being without her. luv her too much :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

If that dogs leg is that bad I would have it taken off. I have seen animals do really well with three legs before... I know that dont cost that much,,,, and The way I look at something like this is that I would do without anything I need to make sure That my animals get what it needs..I smoke and I would quit if one of y animals had to have something done.. But that is just me I have a house ful of animals that no one else wants. And I have to give up stuff all the time just to feed mine. Here where I live the Humane Society helps with stuff like this, Mabey you could ask someone like that to help... I am not past standing beside the road with a bucket either, If I thought that would save one of mines life.

i really hate to be the one to say this sweety,
but it sounds like your dog is really suffering
and for the sake of her you should take some action
talk to your father and be 100% sure that he does not want to put a penny into it at all
and if that is the case, consider crating her most of the day
if you don't have a crate, tie her leash to a doorknob and give her a big comfy bed or blanket to lay on
don't just go day to day
she sounds in tremendous pain
i don't want you to feel bad,
but this can't be buttered over or taken so lightly
you can't just "tell" a dog not to walk on its injured leg
the instincts of an animal are survival, and an animal cannot afford to "rest" in the wild
if you don't crate her, leash her, or take her back to the vet (operation, amputation or euthanization) then she is never going to heal,
she's just going to keep re-injuring herself and suffering
and even if she does finally heal, it will not heal properly and most likely be re-injured

PLEASE take some sort of action :/

That is what I say to Pointy Kitty I wouldnt keep on talking about it I would take some action now. You cant keep on say mabey it will heal. Because It will keep on hurting it self over and over again. I wouldnt put it threw that, I would talk to the vet about it mabey they will work something out with u about the money.. Or check with your local shelter they are money out there to help animals you just have to find it...And that is your job to do.
