Electric yellows spit out pellets.

Hey.... When I throw in a pellet of African Cichlid food, (small pellets), my Electric Yellows get the pellet, keep it in their mouth for a little while, then spit it out. Sometimes they go and get it again, and spit it out again... What does that mean?

Sounds like the pellet is just too big for them to swallow.....when they spit it out, they have probably taken some of it....via "chewing" and just spit it out so they can swallow what they have "chewed" from it....they are just a little more respectable about it than say a green terror, or an oscar, who will just fill their mouths with as many pellets as they can....and swim around looking like dorks because they can't swallow....LOL!

I wouldn't worry about it, like I said, sounds like the pellets are just too big.

If they are having trouble eating them you can soak them in water before feeding them. Not too much or they'll turn into a mush, but just enough to make it easier.

Thanks for the advice :D ! Feeding time will be much better now  .
