I just get the feeling the fish is sick, and not eggbound. Lets just say it is eggbound. If the fish can not absorb the eggs, then it will die. Compared to that, trying to massage the belly or moisten the oviposter with stresscoat or aloe is not near as stressful. Just waiting might be too late. You have to take in the facts, like is the fish eating. Is it swimming. Has it developed more symptoms due to stress. Medicating the fish if there are more symptoms can be stressful, but so can the disease it contracts. There has to be a point when you act. Again, I would use a flashlight behind the betta, to see if you see eggs, or just a swollen stomach. Personnally, I would do 100% water changes every day, feed her well if she will eat. The main reason I would feed her, is she is very weak by now. I would have fasted her for several days in the beginning if I felt then she was eggbound. Now she needs some strength. If she is eggbound, then she probably has a deformed oviposter. It happens often. I know it is not easy to see a fish suffer, but sometimes you have to tell yourself it is just a fish, only so it doesn't disturb you so much. I know it is not just a fish, so don't take this wrong. I've learned after raising fish for 27 years, that these things will happen all too often. So if you are going to raise them, get yourself adjusted to the fact that they get sick and don't always come out of it. It sounds harsh, and I don't want it to, but it is a fact just the same. I really hope your betta gets well. ..f250fisherman
