I don't see why anyone would want a fish that looked like that gourami. It just looks tacky to me. :X

it looks like its been fingerpainted by a threeyearold.

its definitely dyed though, theres one just like it on deathbydyeing.org, its been injected loads of times with those little spots of colour :-(

Hello I am new to this forum so I hope I am doing this right?

I hate that people dye these poor fish I think we should stick the people that do this treatment in a tank of dye and see how they like it...

I think that any type of treatment to an animal in this way or any other form of harmful hindrance to a creature sould be treated as animal crulity in my opinion.

I am really annoyed at the LFS I thought was a good store! I didn't know anything about dyed fish until I came upon this website last week. By that time, I'd already bought $180 worth of stuff at a local store called Wet Pets 'n' Critters. Today, I went there to look around, and found that they have the fruit tetras (blueberry, strawberry, etc.) and glowfish. I felt that I had to speak to the manager to inform them that this is very bad for fish, I don't support it, etc. and she didn't care at all. Basically, what she told me is that the owner gets them because they sell, and people like them. Also, they already knew it was stressful on the fish and don't care!!!  She advised me that I should talk to the people who dye the fish. But my take on that is that if pet stores wouldn't buy the fish then the people who dye the fish would stop. It really annoyed me because I liked the store and now have to either go to PetCo or to another city to find a pet shop.

I needed to vent, obviously!

That feels better.

One of the biggest problems ignored by opponents of dyed fish is the fact the pet stores have to make a living. If dyed fish sell and make them a profit, they're going to sell them. It's simple mathematics. The only way you're going to achieve anything in banning dyed fish is to get it done on the level of the laws of the state or country.

Plenty of shops don't stock dyed fish though so it must be commercially viable to only sell natural ones. Also, plenty of people buy them because they don't knwo the suffering involved, so if enough people find out about it they should go down in popularity anyway...
