Dwarf Puffer Tank Journal

I meant to reply about the tail biting, but got caught up with some work that needed to be done.  Sorry!

I'm no expert, but I think tail biting can be brought on by boredom.  Got any snails for him yet?

I'm glad his tail is better, sorry there wasn't anything I could add! :(

Hey, Vader USED to be a tail biter. I was advised by WB to put colourful items around his tank - handy as I have three little ones and many colourful toys. So I started to do so, and change or move the toy on a daily basis.

He has now stopped biting his tail, don't know what the cause of him stopping is? Have done nothing different, and don't even put the toys there anymore.

Lets hope yours will do the same :good:

Haha, its fine, I was just being cheeky :p

Thanks for that Shelster, he has seemed to have stopped tail biting after I moved his tank.

Everything seems to be going well, except for a mild case of cloudy eye, which seems to be fading with daily water changes.

Yes, I do have snails in there :) Lots of MTS and some others that came in on the vallis.

Still haven't been able to get anymore plants, as the ones I wanted weren't there on my last visit to the LFS. One of the petshops have 20% off all of their aquatic potted plants, so I'll hopefully be able to pick some up from there :)

Zeus's driftwood is slowly becoming water bogged, which is doesn't seem to like
I'm thinking of creating a betta hammock to replace it, any ideas? I'd like to use PVC pipe, although I'm worried about how it will look, with the white.

Will hopefully get some good quality pics tomorrow too.

Perhaps you could tie moss around it?

Yeah, that could work, although I'm not sure how well the moss would grow under the pipe? Maybe I could do two breathing holes, one for the top and one for the bottom, and then everyday alternate the one on top, so the moss grows on both sides?

Wait, nevermind, just realised that if I were to have a breathing hole, then part of the pipe would have to be above the water line, making it impossible for the moss to grow :/

Update: I have ordered a blue mystery snail, hopefully it will get rid of some of the algae, as well as looking cool :p
I also ordered some blue hygro, which I plan on keeping heavily trimmed.

Will update with pics when they arrive :D

Can't wait for pics!  Especially of your blue mystery snail!  I'm mad at my nerites for leaving eggs everywhere.  At first it was like, "Cool! Eggs!"  Now it's more like "Wow... that's a lot of eggs."

BTW have you seen this? :D

Sorry I've been so slack on updating this, but here are the photos I promised :)

Snails.....

My camera was stuffed up and deleted a bunch of photos so I don't have any pics of the plants, except for this one, with Zeus resting in the Hygrophelia. But this is what I wanted the plants for, for Zeus to rest in, which he seems to do most of the time :)

Just realised that picture was really blurry, sorry.

He's so pretty!
And the snails are absolutely adorable
I like the purple cat.

Haha, you made me look for the cat  Thanks, its for my rings

Thank you :) Don't think I've managed to get any un-blurry pics yet :/ Still hoping to manage to get some sometime this week.

Ugh, I swear I'm never getting a long finned betta again, I think I'll stick to plakats or females.

Zeus has managed to tear his tail again, I have no idea what on this time :/ Hoping it will heal as well as it has done in the past. Just so annoyed at not knowing what he ripped it on :(

Aww :( Sorry to hear that! I'm sure it'll heal up quickly under your care. Does stink not knowing though.

Well, after being inspired by Alasse's beautiful tanks, I gave aquascaping a go.......

I'm not completely happy with it, but feel free to give any tips. Please comment what you like/dislike :)
I want to place some an anubias on the wood, though I'm not sure where, the other option is to put some java moss on it, which one do you think would look better?

I'll update with better pics after everything clears.

Hoping the plants will grow in soon, I'm adding flourish which has seemed to help.
Not sure how the hygrophila will grow, as it seems to be suffering from a lack of CO2, check out my thread on that HERE.
