Do You Eat Your Pet Fish When They Die?

ewwww man thats grim

I've heard people eat arowanas in brazil I think theres a few pics on google on a golden aro being cooked

Uuuuuuuuuum all I can say is that this is stupid of you to make the 'sick' face. Arrowana is a food fish and dunno if it is still happening but thanks to fish keepers, a country further up the river is selling baby arrowanas to fish keepers. This is causing problems.

So, all I can say is (assuming you arent vegeterian) is, you sick, weird person, eating animals, what have they done to you?????????

Disgusting

I don't eat my fish that die, but I would probably have no problem with it. It's only meat after all, once it's dead, the personality and characteristics are gone.

nope, i wouldnt eat a pet fish that died of old age or from a disease. fish taht die from old age dont taste good, and i sure wouldnt want to eat a diseased up fish. if i were to eat my fish, it would have to be bigger than 5 inches, and i would have to kill it. oh yeah, and have you ever read the label on most water conditioners? "IF swallowed, seek medical advice" so if i were to eat a pet fish, it would have to be raised in a water conditioner that is safe for humans. i have some, but i dont plan on eating my fish so i dont need to use it

Your such a weirdo durbkat.  . Of course I eat my fish, DUH! They get really tastey especially if they have fin rot. :D . JK, what do you think of us durbkat? Do you think were aliens? :shifty: . Well you dont have to answer that question for security reasons. :look:

No I just think you guys are cannabals. :hey:

I've been looking at this thread for a while, thinking about the different dimensions. I think the warnings on fish food and water conditioners and medications are probably mainly for liability reasons. The FDA would have to approve it if it were used for human consumption. So the warnings may not mean that the fish are not safe to eat but that if you eat them, and get sick, the manufacturer is not liable. So you probably could eat them with no problems, you just couldn't sue if there were any.

A lot of people in South America eat plecos.

I havent ate any of my pet fish...

but ive caught and ate cichlid(peacock bass, Oscar) and yes. Plecostomus.

You can fry them up in thier hard skin over a fire and then they slide right out.

taste horrible though.

yeah. and before you guys start bashing me.
its not really that weird.
its just like eating other fish.
people who inhabit asia/south america/africa eat fish that we keep in our tanks just the same way as we eat bass/catfish/trout/or any other angler fish.

ive had my share in Hawai'i where the warm temps and aquarium released fish lead to a zoo of species.
like i caught rainbow trout and a plecostomus in the same pond.
