Dawn On The Reef

that tank looks sublime, it doesn't look real, becuase of it colour if you get my drift?

reading the topics, give it a month or two, im going to go marine, ill save up, and research! ;D

I am truely in awe of your tank BigC it is gorgeous, and to see the clowns hosting with your pussy coral is brilliant,

You must be just so proud of it.

But then you do put in the hard work and it shows :good:

Still looking good Big C. Where did that grill come from? It is probably the only thing that spoils the aesthetics IMO. I am sure it was needed though. Your elegance is really outstanding though; I love the length of its tentacles.

Regards

Looks absolutely stunning!!

Can I ask, what is the creamy looking coral on the sand at the front, I think the other half saw that one when I showed him your journal and I am trying to find out what coral it is he wants!! I am positive it is that one.

Cheers Guys for the comments....

I know but it should cover with Coraline eventually (I hope) The rock is hiding a Tunze 6055 pump (not very well at the minute though).
I'm thinkin Green Star Polyps here.

TI....Its an Open Brain (Trachyphyllia radiata) There are nicer coloured ones than mine to be had though, Keep an eye out.

Just finished a major cleaning of the sump and replaced all the Eheim FlexiPipe with new. Cleaned the skimmer pump, and cleaned the skimmer itself.
I bought some pond filter pipe (black corrugated plastic 20mm) and spliced it. I'm using this to shield the FlexiPipe from the sump lighting as it is on 24/7. Sure get a lot of fur (algae) building up in the pipework over a period of time.
Im also increasing my waterchanges to 36ltrs per week, which ammounts to half the tank volume after displacment, does anyone think this is excessive. I've ordered an add-on DI Pod for my existing RO set-up. As there was still a lot of nasties in the water after RO. TDS is currently sitting at 2 but I want to achive 0 if poss.

Yeah Ben,
Of course it means using a bit more salt than normal, I'm gonna try it and see what comes about.

Been a while since I dropped in here... That birdsnest is really taking off :good:

oh yeah, your not allowed to stop this thread til you have 1000 replies btw :p

i reckon you should take a monthly shot of each of your sps corals to help you see their growth. Thats what i plan to do when i get into it

Timelapse photography now then Ben!
No I'm just ticking along until I can get this upgrade started.
A young guy from my local reef club (NiRC) was to get me some tank connectors, he says he has two and is waiting on a third. I'm not happy with him to be honest as I'm being kept in limbo.
If he cant afford them or otherwise I wish he'd just come out and say. (I have a bloody great sheet of 10mm 5x2 polished a/r in my garage as the trade).
The sheet costs £135 to buy without polishing and the darn connectors only amount to 40 squid.
Its been a month or more now.
I may just buy ther bloomin things myself and tell him to sod off.
Not Happy  very
Sorry Rant over.....
