Dawn On The Reef

LOL
No offence caused or taken CF, sorry if I come across so strong.
Seen better specimens around that are more flourescent, but hey it will do.

I went to the local Reef Club (NIRC) meeting today and come away with a nice Gorgonian I'd been after for some time. Fellow member owned it and I pestered him into submission
It has a red stalk with bright yellow polyps, I think it's non photosynthetic so we'll have to see how things pan out.
In the mean time here's the pics

I hope it likes the conditions in my tank, it grows in a shape similar to a jewish menorah, so its hoped that it fills the backdrop and I can take out the dead sea fan decoration behind it. Well thats the plan, see how it goes.

Tunze Controller arrived today, So I'll order the Pump, Rock and Photo-Cell in the near future. Getting a bit of Cyno lately not really sure why, could be Phosphate build up (need to test) not enough surface aggitation (hence Tunze setup) bad bucket of salt (some have reported issues with D&D) or something else. Must get to grips with this. Not really an issue, but its there in small amounts.

this ones dropping a bit to far down that list for my liking
LOL, Sorta got the jist you like this thread Ben.
No nothing to report as such, a little Cyno is a worry but I think, with a little help from Ski that I've narrowed or found the root cause and I'm taking steps to eleviate that.
Need to move a few mushies this afternoon as they are annoying my Sun Coral. Apart from that fact, I need to get that pump but I'm a little strapped for cash at present.
So it's looking likely that will have to be put off for another month.
Fixed the gurgling noise from the overflow (too much air being sucked down the tube.
I'm heading over to the mainland Ipswich to be precise for the weekend next, so I'll suss out a few shops before I go.
We usually get over to Bradford (wifes home territory) a couple of times a year so I may jump on a bus and wittle my way to Sheffield some day, any good shops around those parts Ben.

The best shops i know of are a little further south than sheffield.

There is one fantastic shop around junction 28 on the m1. just on the outskirts of notts. Would be happy to show you one day if you want. It won marine retailer of the year a couple of times.

Then theres my local, which is a nice little shop. Have to drop on a good day to see their best stock as they dont have many tanks. But their service is top notch and i visit a couple of times a week anyway.

As for sheffield itself i think orange shark maybe the best to speak too. I live sort of 15-20 mins south of the center and only venture in on football days.

We'll see what transpires then Ben.
Bound to find something LOL
