Dave`s Pre Journal Journal

i seen the rasboras u bought will they stay that colour of will they get nice and colourful like other rasboras i think u should get some galaxy rasboras they nice

They will stay pretty much as they are Arif. I chose these fish because I want the emphasis to be on the scape, with the fish merely complimenting it. Galaxy Rasboras would be nice, but a bit too distracting for what I want.

Dave.

I know what you mean, I cant see me holding out very long before the Gertrude's end up in the nano, I just looking at an empty tank and think about all the fish I could have, its far to tempting!

This has been a very poorly tank with Rhizolclonium for the last month or two and hasn`t progressed anything like I wanted it to as a result. Anyway, here is a quick picture. It`s nothing great, but my camera`s battery ran out after a couple of pics, so it is a little overexposed.

I`ll give a write up on what I think caused the algae, and how I beat it in detail, when I get the opportunity. I`ll try and get a picture of my Rasbora as well.

Sweet. Coming along nicely, Dave.

Are you starting to wish you used bigger rocks yet? lol

I reckon if you ever compete with this (the PFK contest closes Aug 31st...) then a cropping would work well.

When I look at the first rocks I used, before Graeme got involved.......

This won`t be my last Iwagumi, so next time the rocks will be much bigger. Personally, I think Jeff Senske is going a bit too far at the moment, but he is certainly pointing me in the right direction.

Any serious attempts at photographing this tank will likely be done with the water 30% lower. There is still a lot of thinking to do with this tank. The Eleocharis `parvula` looks great in the flesh, but something else is needed to give it more impact for when I photograph it. I have added some small clumps of Riccia to the midground, and I may add some to the foreground, maybe clearing the foreground of the Eleocharis. Any ideas are welcome.

Dave.

Here you go llj, 0.1WPG.

Where are the plants? First you cover 'em with bubbles, bubbles, and more bubbles, and then you hide them in the dark! It's all about the extremes with you, no happy medium.

Tank looks very nice, by the way.

Hey Dave,

How's this going? Not long until the PFK contest closes....

 .....I was just polishing the glass ten minutes ago ready for a possible photo session tonight. The tank isn`t really there for me yet, and the Riccia isn`t looking as much a part of the scape as I would like, but I feel I should enter this tank to help hold up the Iwagumi banner, even if I am not 100% happy.

I have also just acquired Photoshop 7, so I will need a day or two to play around with that to get the basics.

Dave.

This tank has just about completely filled out with Eleocharis `parvula`. I had to throw away the HC due to it constantly being infested with rhizoclonium, but some remnants have made a comeback and it has started to break out from the Eleocharis. I haven`r really got the Riccia to fit in to this scape, but I like the different shade of green it gives. I am undecided as to whether to remove it or not.

that looks amazing!

I think the clump at the front looks a little too much like its been dumped. If it were maybe spread out a bit more to soften the "lump" look it'd look better :)

I love how the HC is comming through though. It just gives it a great contrast in the texture.

That Hairgrass certainly has grown well, I like the 'fluffy' effect it has and it contrasts well against the rocks.

Nice tank Dave :) you little sod! I've been in this hobby far longer and you're the one with all the nice tanks! :grr::lol: Perfer your Iwagumi too
