Cory Spawn

Thats uneaten food, only feed them minimal and clean up after each feed,if you use a turkey baster or pipette you can put it straight to where the main fry are.

If left to fester it will polute the tank, hence nitrite readings...

how do you get them out of the glass without damaging them ?

I've been leaving the food to soak a while before i put it in, only 20 mins, so it sinks to the bottom. I've also semi cleared out a couple of corners of the tank so use for feeding. they tend to like corners for some reason :) Should make it easier to clean up. Its pretty hard picking up old microscopic pieces of food :)

Only had a few corpses so far so out of the 200 in there its going ok. No nitrite reading this morning following a water change last night at 6pm. So looks like my tidying up paid off.

I transfer them from glass to glass with a careful finger. Not all will stick to the glass once removed but 95% of them did.

Well its been about 5 days now since the ones i transfered to the small tank hatched. So far i've only lost about 8 little wrigglers. My nitrite issue has gone and the fry are getting a lot more active and growing! Really pleased with the filter i plummed for, had to put some stockings over the outside in the end as i did find a few fry stuck in the sponge, but a 3 inch lenght of stocking works perfectly and it holds the floating food particles which they now feed on.

Kinda need to decide what to feed them on over the coming months, it might get alittle expensive :)

Missed out on a roma 125 this weekend for £60 :( Im keeping my eyes peeled for one though as i want one for a grow out tank. Probably have to start cycling a new filter or at least sponges for one soon too. Cant see them living in this little tank for long

Looking good Tizer :good:

You could start adding a few ground down mini granules(i use tetra prima) and has they start to grow more feed the mini granules has they come :good:

Daily waterchanges will also promote the growth :good:

Yeah i have some Tetra Prima here, probably have to buy some more. Its quite amusing watching them now, lots with orange bellies where they have been eating the brine shrimp eggs :D Good to know they actually eat them, will watch them change to red when i start on the Prima :) No losses in the last 3 days which im quite pleased about. Managed a quick count of 230 yesterday when they were all inactive in the evening. Came down around 1am and checked on them and they were all going bananas around the tank, deffinately proves them to be more active at night :) Still struggling to find anything suitable on eBay. Might have to buy a cheap 2 foot clearseal tank from P@H if nothing 2nd hand crops up and even that will have to be stop gap with 230 of them! Not sure if this was a good plan or not, lol :D

Good news on the fry, thriving well :good:

I'm happy i have small batches going constantly,so by the time i've sold some it makes room for more

Although i have 2 tanks in the shed gathering dust

Have you tried the local free ads? we have trade it or friday ads, also gumtree down here, usually something being advertised. :good:

Not resorted to the free ads yet, and gumtree seems a bit rubbish.

Lots less food waste in my fry tank now, they have developed an appetite for the brine shrimp eggs and polish them off pretty quickly now :) The filter has also sucked a lot of food onto the netting on the outside so they have that as a source of food while im at work in the day. At the moment i feed at 7am and 7pm and a small bit around midnight. No nitrite readings anymore, it seems it can cope ok :D Really need to figure out what to do about a bigger filter, going to need one when i change to a larger tank.

Thought i would do a quick vid :D

Fab video,they're so cute

Doing a fab job, keep it up :good:

Regarding a bigger filter,if/when you get a bigger one - just transfer the media over,in theory the bio-load should be the same, and the filter will grow with the fry.
Just keep an eye on the stats :good:

i think im going to use two filters on the new tank if i get to that stage, i'll move this one over as is, then use the next model up aswell, then hopefully the new one will seed and i can move this one back to this small tank should i have any more eggs...which is looking highly likely with the way the female bronze corys are fattening up again! Might not rescue the next lot though, these guys are enough for now :)

You'll have umpteen tanks on the go it you keep saving them at this rate

Have you found a bigger tank yet?

nar not yet, i went to P@H yesterday and found a clearseal tank, 2 foot jobby for £30, no lid etc but im going to hold out for a roma 125, few on eBay at the moment, could get one for £60 with all the trimmings. No rush for a while. Not quite sure where i would put it, so have to make space somewhere :) Might shelve the wall behind the door in my office where the 90 litre is sat on a chest of draws... :)

I wish i had space for another tank....'sigh'

Yes you got a while yet,so it will save you dosh in the long run to get one with all the 'Trimmings' :good:

I'm glad in a sense that the albinos have eased off atm, gives me a bit of breathing space not having so many fry to rear.although the pandas still seem to give at random eggs and the tri's spawned today, although i only found 5 eggs, they hide them really well, mainly under leaves,so not noticeable unless you go a-hunting...

I dont "really" have the space and i dont want to go too mad, i know its a fun hobby but its also quite time consuming and 'dirty' to some degree. with a little one on the way i cant afford to go too bananas right now. :)
