Another weekly vid of my cory fry growing up, probably the only time i will ever raise any fry as the eggs dont stand a chance in the main tank with my Tigers on patrol!

I cant imagine doing it for a living, its a lot of work and would require huge amounts of dedication. Since the wife and i dont really share it as a hobby i dont think it would be fair to get into it in a big way either! No big fish room for me.... :) Once these guys are grown up and moved on i might have a crack at a different species , hopefully some of the others i have will be mature enough to breed. :)

Anyway, moved the fry to my 90 litre tank, happily going nuts over Tetra Prima, which is a good thing, as i got 4 big pots of the stuff to get through! :)

and yes i know i have a couple of plants planted upside down! i just cant be bothered to get a wet arm again tonight! ;D

Lost a few babies last night (5), cleaned the filter out on Monday and neglected to check the water, ended up doing a 80% water change on Wednesday night as the nitrite had gone through the roof! All seems back in order now though and they are quite happy and starting to bulk out! Feeding a pinch of tetra prima in the mornings, the same in the evening when i get home and i sneek down before i go to bed around midnight and do another pinch.

Really strange size comparissons at the moment, i've got a couple of massive babies while a few still seem to be like 4 week old size still. I've added a powerhead from my old tank to get some extra flow going in there, i've noticed a few of the youngsters have a bit of a kink in their bodies just before the tail fin. I think this is a typical spinal deformity of corys that are tank bred. Out of the 200 i have, there are probably 10 like this.

I've got the temp set to 22 degrees which is just slightly warmer than my tap water and i'm doing a 80% water change every other day using a hose, which makes it much much easier.

Week 7 Vid

Not a huge amount of growth and have lost a few.

I've had a bit of a mixed result with these guys so far. Unfortunately quite a large number of them have bent spines and really havnt grown very well. I've had a smack a few on the head and get rid. Some have also just keeled over and died. My water is perfect, i've even got two filters going just to be safe and i change 50% of the water every other day and have done for the last few months. However, that said, i've got a good bunch of them that look like they will survive and mature into adult hood, no deformaties and are quite a good size now.

I dont think i will be breeding these guys again, in truth i've actually found them to be quite boring fish to raise. So i think i'm going to put my 90 litre to better use and look into some Apistogramma Cacatuoides (when i can talk the missus around to letting me buy more fish), shes pregnant and stroppy at the moment :D
