Coronavirus...post your thoughts here...

But the revenues of the teams drop , the work force for the stadium including vendors and security do not work and may lose wages, ... the local economy loses out as nearby restaurants who would cater to pre-game and post-game diners who would have gone to the game lose income.
Every country's economy is going to suffer from this virus but people have to learn that money is not the answer to everything and the world's economy is wrong. Every country is trying to expand continuously and you can't do that. Eventually you run out of resources and the system collapses.

What would you prefer, a good economy with lots of contaminated people spreading the virus, followed by a major crash in the economy and possible break down of society when everyone gets sick; or a drop in the economy for 6 months or so while people stay home and try to avoid spreading the virus?

The lesser of two evils is where the economy can drop for a while and we all stay home until this has run its course. The economy can be rebuilt and with any luck, the boffins in the government might realise we have to change the world's economy to a different system that is more stable and better for the long term future of the planet. And by long term future I mean the next 1000 years, not the next 3-4 years while they are in government.

For anyone getting their groceries delivered, disinfect them when you get them. You don't know if the person who picked your groceries is contaminated. If they are, they can put the virus on your groceries.

I just watched my grand daughter show her goat via web cam at the rodeo. Kinda nice.
Did she win?

Did anybody else hear this ? Uncle Sam may not be able to pay Social Security if sufficient numbers of workers are sick and not drawing their pay. If that is true then we will know for a fact that the lying, thieving politicians have indeed absconded with what is not theirs. I told you this.

I need to ask you to post a link to that rumor that is from a reputable source. Let's not spread rumors unless we know they are based on FACTS!

People...let's stick to proven facts and not make any assumptions. Be ready to back up any statements made here with a link to a reputable source.

The President of the US will address the country tonight at about 9 PM. That is very important for all US citizens to watch.

I have no doubt that they spent most of it years ago and left IOUs (bonds)in place of the money. It is like many of the states using state employee retirement funds as their personal piggy bank. Calf and ILL are on top of the list for doing that.

@Fishmanic I saw this on the CBS News this morning. I sat there dumbfounded. Not trying to turn political here but the thieves ruling us here in the US always find a way to turn anything to their advantage. Preying on sick and dying people is a new low for them however. Watch the CBS News this afternoon.

My opinion, and my opinion only, is that they will continue to pay out social security payments but if it vastly increases the debt, that could possibly lead to inflation. Inflation is something we all pay the price for. This is my opinion and only MY opinion. But I digress. The main subject here is the Coronavirus and how it is being addressed by countries around the world.

Post a link to that news if you have one. But otherwise let's stick to this topic title and my questions posed in my very first post:
  • What is the present state of the virus in your country or state?
  • Do you know anyone who is infected?
  • What restrictions does your government have to prevent the spread of the virus?
  • Are you making any preparations such as stocking up on food and buying masks?
  • What is your opinion about the coronavirus..is it overblown; or do you feel there will be a pandemic?
Please stick to the facts and stay on topic. Please be able to back up your post with a link to a reputable source if necessary.
And please stay clear of discussions involving politics or religion.

The Government borrowed the money and issued bonds so they say the money is there but it is in the form of bonds (IOU) not money. So when the money runs out the government has to come up with a way to pay off those bonds- it is like a shell game. See some of the links I posted above.

What is going on in my state ? Look at the maps they show on TV of the affected states. Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and North and South Dakota remain virus free so far. Why? Because we don't smoke marijuana in Montana, we don't get our kicks from LSD. Football's still the roughest thing on campus and kids here still respect the college Dean. Leather boots are still in style for manly footwear, beads and Roman sandals are not seen. That and no big crowds of people. The greater Boston area has more people than the sum total population of those five states.

Back on topic, I think we will end up like with the H1N1 virus only we have a lot more fear going around this time.

She placed 15th out of 88 which means she made sale! Not sure how the groups will pay out since there will be no auction but they assure us that they will. My other grand daughter gets to show her lamb this evening. The rodeo was kind enough to move some shows up today to get as many in as possible. Their sister won’t get to show her pig and is heart broken but understands the need.

We have a similar program here at the county fair (Junior farmers and ranchers association) but that is not until the end of August so hopefully this will be over by then. Sorry that your one granddaughter has to miss out.

I am repeating the following link as I consider it important to follow the spread of the coronavirus. You can even click links on this site to see how countries compare with infection rate and deaths. I recommend you bookmark the site. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

@Colin_T I want to fly to Australia and buy you a beer. You are absolutely and completely totally right . The worlds economy is not sustainable. Eventually something will have to give. This Coronavirus might just be that something.
