 a goldfish belonging to a friend has red gills and underneath they are looking white anyone, water quality good. the only thing i can tell you is that the fish had a stone stuch in its mouth and she doesnt know if the fish swallowed it or spat it out. she thinks it may be bruised what do you guys think??

If it's choking, you should grab it by it's peduncle and rub downward, towards its mouth. It should spit it out.

However, it is more likely that it might be gill flukes...

Is the fish having trouble breathing? Clouded Eyes? Disorintated?

the fish in question looks okay and is now feeding, the fins etc are standing up but he does shake his head and yawn a bit more than usual. she doesnt know if the stone could have gone further down as she cant see it now. she went from the tank to get advice and in that time he could have spat the stone out. so now she doesnt know what to think. his gill covers are a deep red almost verging on blue black. she said if he was human you would think he had been punched. the underside is pale. there is no swelling and both gills have the same look.
