I did breed some Bronze Corys by design a few years back, and it was pretty easy to get them to spawn(2 days feeding live brine shrimp, and then added some chilled water). Not sure why these Sterbai spawned, as I didn't do anything and I have never noticed them spawning before. As icQb suggested, it could well have been the weather. Just given them their first feed of spirulina and egg yoke, will switch to freshly hatched brine shrimp tomorrow, as I have only just popped the brine shrimp eggs in the hatchery.Awww! I've got a group of sterbai. I'm really hoping I get the chance to raise some one day
Hey ho! Live and learn! It's not like they won't go again lol!
I'm reading this thread with a lot of interest.
I now realize why discus are so expensive when you buy them...
What can I say... goo luck, and keep us updated!
Indeed mate. If they were as easy to breed as guppies they would cost a quid each. Once cracked I don't see breeding them is any harder than many fish, but cracking it is not easy. Like everything these days we can find information about anything on the internet, but reading about something is quite a bit different to doing it. I stare at these fish, I read everything I can about these fish, yet still they baffle me
I will keep trying
I got a chuckle when I read the bit about the night temperature. The easy answer is usually the last one you think of. Like when your keys are on the counter, but you've just dug in the couch. {My couch has old kid snacks in it these days}
Maybe the heaters will do the trick then, bet the parents will be nicer to their babies when they aren't whining and shivering.
Indeed. I believe that there are somewhere close to 30,000 know species of fish in our world.........would take a while to study them allIndeed mate. You would be surprised how little is known about many well known hobby-fish!
Although i once found a thesis about Tanganyika shell-dwellers and their behaviour in the lake! one of the most interesting pieces of fish-keeping i've hever read.
And i don't even own any
I hope take 36 goes awesome!
Did you install a heater to fix the 'cold'-night water?
Also it's a good job I'm a big pussy, and didn't sleep it off like a man!Well, at least your sore neck served a purpose! On to take 36, yeah!
Conditioned both pairs yesterday with hourly feeds of live brine shrimp, and they are now both displaying signs of spawning again. I hope to get some love action this evening(that's the fish, not me!.........or.....)Keep trying! Looking orward to seeing more!
