They look amazing. I hope you get lots of babies. I just have a quick question, how did you grow out your discus ? Like what did you feed them, what was your wc schedual, and did you use a barebottom tank ? I plan on selling my breeding pair and ordering 6 new 3" discus, and was curious if i should grow them out in a bare bottom tank. Or if i should grow them out in my planted tank.
Thanks, Mark

Mark,

They were grown in that tank. Lots of small feeds and water changes. My water change schedule is, to be honest, dependent on what I am up to. When I am home I do 50% 3 times per week. When I am away, I think my girlfriend does it once or twice a week. They are mainly fed frozen blood worms and beef heart mix. If I am in the fish market I will pick up live brine shrimp, but that is around once every 2 weeks and they get around 3 days worth. When I am home I would guess I feed them around 6 times per day(small feeds). Takes about 12 to 18 months to get them to 6 inches. I don't think a bare bottom tank will speed up growth that much, just means you will be siphoning twice a day!

wow, they seem really hungry! How much time apart did you take these 2 pictures?

More greedy than hungry.....I think given a chance they would eat until they go pop! Couldn't have been more than 2 minutes between the pics

Hi Mate,

Glad your back ok!

Do you feed the beefheart through that feeding device? Are the holes big enough?

No mate. I just break off little chunks about an inch square and let them eat it from between my fingers. Try not to drop it in as they end up knocking it under the wood and then I have to fish it out.

Oh dear..... I have been running around sorting out a few things, and it seems that my fish didn't get the memo that they would soon be checking into the love shack...... My man fish couldn't keep his pants on and now they have laid in the main tank
