Petey IS cute! I can't help comparing him to an ugly little pug dog that you just wanna cuddle. Only I am a cat and fish person and much prefer Petey.
The cardinals are stunning. How big are they?

Great Photos! I love that regal tang he is so blue!! There is one at the LFS that is a really faded blue I can't figure why. Those are great. We are thinking of cardinals for the 90, cuz they are so pretty.

@L the spots come of very easy. In harder places even waving a cleaning tool will create enough turbulence that it flakes off.

@FF the cardinals are approx 1.5" - 2" I'd guess. Now that you mention it I'll take a closer look when I get home. A friend of mine wanted to name the Regal so I agreed. She decided on Regis. Haha. Not sure if your son would approve I'm pretty much calling him Regal

@SN I've seen quite a few Regals and lots have been lighter in color. I'm really hoping mine stays vibrant. The FS that I bought him has a full grown in their display tank and it looks quite dull. The cardinals are a fun fish. The way they hover around and make quick darting action towards food is fun to watch. Not shy at all, and definitely the easiest to capture pictures of. They have my stamp of approval for sure.

Yeah cardnials are great little fish, I have tons of pictures of mine doing silly things, and of course when they had babies.
And I really hate to say I told you so. But he's right that those little cardinals may eventually become snacks, if anything they may get more reclusive as they hide from the bigger fish. Putting them in their own tank is a great idea, you may even get a spawn or two.

I once saw a half filled 200 square gallon tank that had only bangaiis and mangroves, really nice tank. Actually, any cardinal is a good choice, you can even get some big enough to keep in groups of 3+ in this tank.

And keep an eye on them, if you're right and they are only 1-2 inches they are not fully grown and therfore don't care about gender/mating yet, once they grow up they might fight so be careful, the only way to know for sure (and even then they could fight) is if you've seen one hold eggs for the other.

It's my newest little buddy. Inspired by SaltNoob himself. I've had him now for a few days, and he immediately made himself at home.

Yes she is lovely!

I wouldn't however get an anemone for it. They are quite demanding in terms of water quality & lighting requirements.

Other than that it would also be likely to become a tasty snack for Petey!

(I think a little friend for her would be nice though!)

Ainsy, get another Black & White Ocellaris? I just got the one the other day because all the other clowns were quite small and I didn't want to take the chance with Petey and Picasso. Even though they've shown me that they are well behaved, I still like to try to get larger fish whenever I can. I may be going back to the city today, so I will keep my eye out for a companion if you feel that would be best for her.

Not necessarily 'best' for her. They can live perfectly happily alone - I just like the look of them in a mated pair.

It is hard to judge from a pic- but it does look like it may be a her because of the size. The conventional way of finding a mate for her would be to get a significantly smaller one so that it hadn't transitioned yet.

It is possible to get one that is just a little smaller than her and for it still to be male - you would just have to watch them carefully as if you ended up with a pair of females they would probably fight (although you have a big tank so may just adopt opposite ends!)

The store also had some strange Clowns I had never seen before. I tried to look them up on liveaquaria as well, and found nothing. The prices on these little guys were crazy. The colors were unreal. I wish I would have taken some picts or at least paid better attention of their name. I'm pretty sure they were all tank bred, as well. Still unsure, but I'm still hoping to go in today.

Could have been picasso or snowflake clowns. They are a genetic aberration that are specifically bred like that. Some people like them but they aren't really my cup of tea. Quite unusual hence the high price tag!

Yes, there was quite a bit of white on them. Snowflake maybe, but definitely not Picasso. I think I would have picked up on that.

I've never been a fan of the fish only tanks, but yours looks great! I really like it. Choices on fish are great as well. I really like that puffer.

As for the tangs you see with discoloration, it normally happens from them maturing (kinda like how iguanas are gorgeous when juvenile then ugly as they get older). you can reduce this by feeding them a very good diet! Which includes assorted foods from LIVE seaweed off lettuce clips, frozen foods, dry foods and all kinds as long as they are high quaility. The live seaweed is probably some of their favorite foods. I use to buy assorted kinds and keep it in my sump and hang a clip or two of it a day or every other day. They need a mixed up diet so they get everything they need to be healthy. Maybe you could invest in a cleaner wrasse as well, but don't take my word on the cleaner wrasse, get others to see if thats a good idea and do some reading on them. All i know is that they can live with larger animals because they form a simobotic relationship with them where they both benefit so the big guys dont eat em. They are relatively cheap as well. Regardless dont take my word to heart, get other opinions.
