Ben's 400l Wet Thing

Dont worry, negatives always finish with a positive. Just keep your head up :good:

And as united, Eh. No comment :p

thats terrible news!, just when i thought things were looking up for you!

like young fisher said, ...every cloud and all that......

Sorry to hear your plight Ben.
Can be a costly business when things go wrong on this side of the fence.
Was this down to the infestation you had or water parameters.
Regards
C

hi ben

have you found the bannerfish and what the other news on the fish wish the best for you

Comisserations on Utd, all sorts of strangeness there this afternoon, you still have the playoffs and I think you are the strongest side in them. If you have Preston first, I hope you give them a damn good thrashing.

Really sorry to hear about the fish.

Don't give up Ben, you will sort this in the end, both Ski and Rabbut did.

Keep us posted, hope you manage to sort things out.

well ive already decided what im going to do. Going to take the clowns to the fish shop 2moz. Then il let the tank run for however many weeks i need to without fish in. Then work on a new fish list, something abit different. All seems to go back to when the powder blue went in. Il set up a propper QT in my room too. The corals all look great and the water tests were spot on. The fish looked really well til last night.

Quite tempted to order a load of reef bones now. Then il just completely re-scape using them. Il let my mate look after the corals while the bones cure. Then all the live rock can go in the sump. We'll see. Need something to do for the next god knows how long. It will mean i have no pest nems too.

Got a couple of questions now...

my mate picked up a coral and some CUC which are in the tank saved for him while he was home on a bit of leave. He goes back tuesday...now if he takes them home are they going to infect his tank with whatever? Or do they need to stay with me for the couple of months?

Compatability of wrasse? not done much reading into this. Would like to include some wrasse in the new list. Any combinations to be avoided?

Hi Ben

So sorry to here about your nightmere with the fish, with my cash flow at the moment i am not sure i could bounce back from something like that, i really hope you can mate. We all spend so much time and cash to do the best for are fish and then out of the blue something like this happens, the salty side can be so cruel, anyway keep your chin up mate and keep going, you will have a fully stocked tank again soon.

I am not sure if you should hold on to the coral or not, but to be honest mate, i would not be in a any hurry to put anything from a tank that has had an almost total wipeout in my tank, but i suppose it depends on what your mate has in his, if he wants to take the risk or not, but like i say i am not sure if you could actually transfer whatever killed your fish to another tank through your coral.

My yellow tail and my leopard wrasse get along very well, they follow each other around the tank feeding all the time, although they are VERY messy when they do feed, imagine putting your hand in the tank and stiring the sand every 10 mins thoughout the day and you will get some idea.

All the best
VM

Sorry to hear about the disaster. That totally sucks :(

As far as ws, all it takes is one drop of water to transfer it to another tank. I wouldn't put yours in my tank for awhile. He could look into the coral dips. I don't know if any of them would kill off the critters, if there were any. Better to be safe than sorry.

Oh Ben - that is awful - how long do you think you will have to leave the tank empty for? Keep your chin up, knowing you, you will bounce back with an even better tank

Where do you buy your reef bones from?

:fish:

Really sorry to read of your problems Ben, But I'm glad you are remaining positive, and knowing how much you enjoy the aquascaping part of marines, I'm sure you will start to feel good again, and begin to enjoy it all over again :good:

As for Sheffield, well what can I say  I'm a Southend united fan, so should probably keep silent

I would probably leave your mates corals where they are :good: If the cause is unknown or parasitic, moving them could cross-contaminate the clean tank... You could FWD the corals to reduce the risk, but it isn't foolproof...

From my limited knowledge of wrasses, I know some can be nasty and others nice, some tiny and most massive, so it will likely depend on which one you have your eye on...

All the best
Rabbut

I did read a thread on RC where there were many fairy and flasher wrasses kept together. It seems with them that as long as they look different they shuld be ok. I hope so as I hope to get another couple for the new tank.

Well im now fishless. The surviving clown was taken back to the LFS today :(

Stripped the tank to find the missing ones. Doing a water change soon. Mixing it now.
