Bedside Manner

That's a valid point. Stress is the leading cause of illness with a fish and over/incorrectly stocked tanks make it near impossible to keep the fish healthy. I'm not sure whose stocking list you are talking about, it doesn't sound like the tank that made me start this thread. Looking at your stocking, I see that you prefer to keep your betta fish under constant stress by keeping them where they can see each other. I can also see you are a little short on some species that like more friends.

Personally, I don't like how you keep your betta fish, I think you should move or rehome them rather than constantly stressing them like you are. Four male bettas wedged into a 10g tank is horrendous. Now that wasn't very nice of me, was it?

You have just done exactly the thing that you started this thread complaining about!

Afemont you told me off the other day for being hard on someone who had got too many fish in a small tank. I felt pretty bad and removed my post. So I agree with much of what you are saying, but there are always people who give balance to sometimes OTT responses and that is the joy of having a range of people giving different types of support and criticism. We don't really need a lecture!

I know sometimes comments can sound harsh as online you can't tell how they're actually said, but I'd rather be told what I'm doing wrong & yes address the immediate problem, but if that problem has been caused by stocking then that needs addressing too

No, I didn't tell you off. I asked you one pointed question because you recommended to take a sick fish back or euthanize it rather than treat it. I told you I disagreed and the reason why.

There was no lecture intended by this thread either, it was supposed to be a discussion. I only suggested that people could be a little nicer about pointing out stocking problems, not that they should not say anything about them. Of course it didn't seem to be interpreted that way. I started the thread because of what took place in the thread about the red tail shark. I don't know if anyone notice or cares, but that poster is history now. I wonder how the fish is now.

Then I made the mistake of being facetious without being clear that I was doing so and I'm still paying for that. Again, I apologize to anyone that was offended. Actually, I'm sorry I ever said anything to anyone except the people asking for help.

I don't know where you're from but here it just means 'don't get het up', and I didn't think you had 'dobbed me in' - there's another phrase for interpretation. I'm chilled - hope you ARE!! :good:

I'm in the US and it's not commonly used here, but the phrase "tetched in the head" used to be. I wanted to be sure what you meant, so I looked it up. The "easily irritated" part wasn't too bad, it was the "petulant" and "peevish" part that seemed just a wee bit uncomplimentary. ;)

My wife often tells me I'm petulant and peevish so I think you've given me the proper definition which I've obviously ben blissfully unaware of. Thanks for looking it up. Wait till I see her! You're definitely not petulant and peevish!!! Sorry :-(

Of course I am, I just don't want anyone pointing it out. ;)
