Badger's 150g Rio Negro/Orinoco Flooded Rain Forest

My lemon tetras are finally starting to look somewhat worthy of the name. Pics don't quite do them justice, but they have a nice, all-over-yellow sheen developing.

It takes a lot of patience, when buying Juvenal fish, waiting for them to color up… sometimes you wonder if you got bad fish… I’ve had some rainbows, for almost a year, and they’re just hinting at color after a year…

Big Al, my special needs angelfish, died last night. He was lying on the surface gasping for several hours, so I put him down. He was blinded in one eye a few years ago by a bad ich infection, and appeared to have suffered some sort of neurological damage too. It's a bummer he died, but it's also kind of amazing he made it as long as he did.

Did an updated "About this aquarium" card, which I will apply when I go over later this week. Also got some black, wave-patterned window film to replace the old table cloth that currently serves as a backdrop.

(For those of you just tuning in, this tank is in a busy dentist's office. Lots of parent and kids look a the tank, so they like to have a little write-up like this to make it more interesting. It's nice doing something that makes people happy)

Replaced the old fabric backing with black window film. Looks nicer and more elegant. Wow, putting one of those on an already-setup 150g is WORK! Glad that's done. 😜 Was away for three weeks, traveling then a case of covid. But water parameters and fish health all optimal. When maintenance fails, plants get the job done!

I've never been a fan of lemon tetras, but I saw some last week that had black edging on the anal fin, and they were eye catchers.

Glad to hear you are feeling better.

I love this tank. As you may recall I am originally from Venezuela, so both of these rivers are "local" (although I sadly no longer live there). If I ever set up a larger tank I'd love to do something like this.

Nice, pics please ;)
Here you go. You can see the wave effect on the backdrop. It looks rather nice. It's subtle, and I doubt most people will even notice the change, but after around seven years of caring for this tank, it was time for something better than the black table cloth duct taped to the back.

Agree, the texture on the background is very interesting.
