Fish counting. I do it.
Fish counting is where you have a checklist. A checklist of your fish. Kind of like a roll call.
Are YOU a fish counter?

Oh definitely. To the point of paranoia.

Yes. Obsessively. I hate it. Since I got fish my OCD has come back. I'm seriously considering swapping all my little fish for one big fish so I don't have to count.

12 tiger barbs and 11 diamond tetra mean that counting takes a long time. 1, 2, 3...1, 2...1, 2, 3, 4, 5...1, 2...etc

Not religiously. Maybe once a week, possibly less. Just a quick roll call every now and then to check all is ok!

Ok good. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one.
The past 4 daily roll calls reveal that I have in fact lost a neon. Oh well :rip:

With so many now I found this the easiest way...
I now have a spreadsheet with all the fish totals in there, which then adds them up for each species, each tank and overall quantities.
Underneath all these calcs I have the last date I observed the total amount of each species per tank.
Hopefully that makes some sense.
So in answer to your question yes, but like Lunar Jetman not daily, used too, but now that would take too long ;)

As for Kuhli loaches they are a nightmare to count.  I have a total of seven in the large aquarium, plus five Java Loaches.  I see the Java loaches all the time, as for the Kuhli's I never know where they are from day to day, the most I have counted at one time is five, but they are very elusive.  At this stage I plan to get more Javas and maybe a few more Kuhlis will be added, as I know the more you have the more you are meant to see them, not sure they know that though!

I am currently swapping some fish around so will need to update my xls.

Ha! I have a spreadsheet with my total fish count on, but also with the setup costs per tank as well and the cost per litre for comparison.

Yes, I'm an accountant...

I count, recount double check and count again!

Doing this is obsessive, certainly, but in so doing I was able to notice that one of my neon tetras was suffering from popeye, but only on one eye, so it had to be the result of an injury.  I pulled him out and treated with salt and Melafix and changed the water daily... two weeks later and he showed no sign of progress from the popeye but was showing signs of stress (I assumed from being alone).  I put him back into my main tank, and he's been going strong ever since.  His color came back as soon as he rejoined his shoal, and his eating has been good.  It might be my imagination, but the popeye seems to have diminished on him recently (the injury took place about 5 months ago).  He swims well and eats well.  So, I figure its not doing him any real harm - although it looks painful.  He acts completely like the other neons, and I can only find him when he turns to show his left eye to me.

I border on obsessive compulsive personality disorder (NOT the same as OCD), so, yeah, I do a head count all the time. My otos are the hardest for me. I have four (I had five, but one died a week after purchase), and I can usually only count three. I've never seen a body though. Never. The cherry barbs are a pain to count, but I usually just count females first, and then males. Lately the males are easy to count because they are very interested in breeding. I can also only count two snails at any time. The worst part is that I can't remember if I put three or four in there.

Nah, I don't bother. WRONG!! Like every single flippin' time I look in the tanks! It's really bad since I now have fry and don't know exactly how many I have. But since my tanks are in my office where I spend 90% of my time, I'm constantly counting. Tiger barbs are the worst, I think, because 1) they're excellent shoalers and 2) they're constantly moving. 1, 2, 3, oh crap, they've switched directions. 1, 2, 3, 4, did I already count that one? Yeah, that's my day.

Wow that must be time consuming and mentally tiring for you to be head counting all the time?
I find my Espei's are like your cherry barbs, hard to count, as the will not stay still!  Mind you if they did I would think something was wrong ;)
Just read up on it, it says hoarding can be one of the criteria, so is that the same as having MTS? :)

Yeah pretty much. I have ten aquariums and I am always thinking about getting more. I had a therapist once tell me that I may also be at risk for dog hoarding, but I haven't gotten to that point yet, as I've turned down three dogs this week. Haha. We've acquired six of these tanks in the last three months. Sigh...
