Aquatics Place I Won't Be Returning To!

Gools (evesham shop) I know the shop well used to live very near and still go there if I am visiting family

The owner is a nice bloke and the fish are not all ill I think you will find he takes a lot of peoples unwanted fish and often gets ill fish. Unlike many chain stores where fish are killed if they look very roppy he generally will attempt to bring them round. If you ignore his hospital tanks many are very well priced fish and very healthy much of my stock has come from this shop. They never develop things in quaranteen and it is a shop not a display zoo

I'm sorry, but I've got to disagree with you on this one ...

There were a few tanks yes that had fish in quarantine ... but they were still for sale! The Puffer in the picture was being treated but was still for sale! £150

Yes, the fish were reasonably priced, but I wouldn't want to risk it, most fish in there had no colour apart from their red gills and just generally didn't look well.

I didn't say the bloke who worked there wasn't nice?

You only have to look at the Betta tank section to see for yourself ... a blow heater to keep them warm

Of course he will sell a fish under medication on the simple matter its not veryproffitable and he needs every penny in this current climate I would buy from him without hesitation just pick your fish carefully as I would do anyway

as for the heating, note very few heaters in any his tanks This is because it is a fish room and the temp in there is enough to maintain tank temps many people on here no longer use heaters in a house in a fish room its much warmer

my LFS doesnt run heaters because its normally worm enough, but they have a blower heater on a thermostat to heat the ambient room temp up to 25oC only heaters are in the new world tanks.

although i think its wrong to sell a fish under medication.

Basicly the heating arangment he is using I would say

Not all his fish are under medication usually just a handfull and I would still say better ill on show on meds than dead in a back room in a bucket with others

Oh the big catfish its magnifying glass and the tank is actually pretty darn big more like an indoor pond

We will never agree on this so lets just leave it.

Call me prude but i like a fish shop to be nice when i walk round it, the place was a mess with dirty floor littered with junk.

and surely if it were half an hour, they would still be acclimatizing? because every good LFS i know and i use this method two use a 2-4 hour drip acclimatization method

15 min i acclimatise for with no side effects why couldn't he do that maybe thats why they were stresed

I give up nearly

because fish are in transit for 24 hours plus, and will be very stressed, thats why acclimatization in the dark will prevent any die off

As truck says it a very different thing bringing fish home within half hour/one hour than to have a shipment in that could have been in transit for 24hrs+ so yes fish should have been still accliming within half hour :).

Cant actually comment on the so called shop but from pics and comments it does sound like a place to stay well clear of :(
