Hi all

I have been searching around for local aquatic places and today come across the worst one I have been in :(

The fish all looked unhappy, and the tanks were not cared for. Seen quite alot of dead fish and some about to die. I felt really upset :(

I found the Betta section really upsetting, tanks were dirty, water not been changed, and a blow heater on the floor I assume to keep all the fish warm? The male Betta's were really still and floating, and looked really unhappy :(

I took some quick photo's although not very clear......

Betta section-you can see the blow heater on the floor to the right, and the tank underneath had a HUGE catfish in there.

This fish was lay on his side, so i called the bloke over, he opening the tank and said oh they don't travel well, but he has been treated! I don't know what fish he was but he looked so scared! There were no plants or anything :(

All the fish were very pale, and alot of them had red gills?

I wanted to take all the fish home and rescue them, although they are probably all ill and I wouldn't want to give the shop any of my money!

I then travelled a little further and went to Daydream Discus, not only discus and the was a lovely place, I recommend that!!

Hi ya

This was Goll's in Evesham! A friend recommened it!! Apparently used to be lovely!

Changed my mind with the DP, going for a Betta insead lol

ohh no- get a dp, they are great!- have you set up the tank yet?- got any pics?

I will have a DP next i promise! I am a girl and love Betta's! I have seen some amazing one's!

My tank is set up but still cycling! I will post some pics tomorrow :)

i was supprised how big the rena smartheater is, i will have to plant carefully to hide it and the filter in the rear corner

good luck

in picture 2 and 3 is a discus very expensive fish from £40-60 usually yeah they dont travel well but i dont think this one will make it!

You know what id do with such pet shop keepers ... id teke all stock out (the one which is still alive) and burn their shop. I hate people like this why be in the field of somethink that you dont care about! Sorry im just angry and cant believe that such people have licence to sell live stock! REPORT THE OWNER! :rip: Discus

I hate it too, and i will be reporting because someone needs to go in there and sort the place out! It keeps playing on my mind, just keep picturing how sad he looked :-(

Discus? Didn't think it looked round enough?

it looks more like a green sevrum than a discuss to me.

Very bad aquatic practices there, all pics are of fairly large fish. 1st and second pic is of a Uaru and its non to healthy as are all the rest.
Did you not say something, dont matter if you get thrown out of the shop, you probably wont be back anyhow, then just report the shop to the local anamal welfare body if it's as bad as you say it is.

I hate to see people getting away with this (as I'm sure we all do). I had much the same experience last weekend in my local Dobbies Garden Centre (Dobbies Melville in Midlothian if anyone is interested).

I often pop in for a look and usually its a hit or a miss, but nothing which gives me any cause for concern. However, last weekend there were dead and dying fish in almost every tank, and the staff were standing around chatting. I didn't say anything, but it really annoyed me. They shouldn't be allowed to sell fish if they can't even look after them short-term.

BTT :good:
