Aquamarine 900 Journal - My First Marine Tank

This looks great! I really like the red coral. Those are kenya trees right?

So many more plans it's unreal :p a lot more softies!

Yeh I recommend Aquarays :) so easy to install and will definitly increase soft coral growth. What are your coral plans? ... If I had the cash is probably make metal halide fixture though :p so I could keep hard corals.

It's linked above my last update I can't really type it though as the English name will be language filtered :p

It's always money with this hobby hahaa.... It's ok though, im due a lottery win anytime now. :good:

I think i'd probably just go soft at the moment, there's still plenty of variety you can get with softies, no real need for hards?

I really like the 'tree' types, and think they give the tank depth, together with polyps and mushies i think thats all ill get for now. I'll try and get a variety of colours though.

I have also decided not to add any more fish for a month or so, but add corals instead.

Keep the updates coming :good:

All I have in my tank in softs, but the tree types are really hard to keep i have a mini fridge and a freezer full of different coral foods :p

You can get some beautiful soft corals for your tank so plan those pennies wisely ;)

Good luck with the lottery im due my jackpot too! Lol

Hahaaaa. Im a really bad girl coz I've spent LOTS!!!

I'm thinking of doing a journal. Problem is I've been bad and not kept records - just got on with it. Naughty really.

Do you want to see a piccie if I can figure out how to upload one?

Don't really have to keep a strict record like me :p always nice to see a shot now and again of coral growth or new additions etc :p

Yeh id love to see how your 900 looks :)
What setup you runnin on it?

I'm still running on the MariSys thing but I've got a sump on order which should arrive sometime next week. Bought a great big secondhand oak 'sideboard' which the tank's now on, that's got plenty of room for a sump so had to do it! Still gotta figure out how I'm gonna get the water down there yet. Don't really want pipes coming out the top of the tank so was thinking along the lines of a syphoned overflow box but they're not cheap. Will probably try and pick a few brains on the forum to see what's the best way.

Lights are still the originals - everything's doing well under them so will leave them for now.

Here's a pic - hope you like it :)

FishAreFriendsNotFood, fancy doing a trade with mushies in the future?, not the whole thing, cuttings. Had alook on youtube and it looks pretty simple - Saves us both money too :)

Thanks for the compliment.

Yes it is a sun coral. The only thing I do is two or three times a week I give the sun coral some Gamma NutraPlus. I turn the power heads off and just squirt a little bit over the top of the polyps when they open up after the white lights go out. I don't do anything else except feed the fish and obviously the other corals get some of that as it floats about. I've got a really brill LFS and I just follow their advise as I learn the ropes. So far everything's just amazing. Water params are all spot on.

I've got 2 x Percula Clowns, 2 x Green Reef Chromis, 1 x yellow Clown (Coral) Goby, a Steinitz Goby and Pistol Shrimp pair, 5 x Turbos, 2 x Nassarius and the 2 cleaner shrimps. Next fish is going to be a Coral Beauty but I'll wait another couple of weeks for that.

So pleased you like it. I wouldn't have done it if you hadn't started this thread coz I couldn't pluck up the courage before. So Thankyou :*

Yeh, mine are slowly covering the rock underneath. I was thinking of cutting one off and re-placing it on another rock to see how long it would take to re-grow. I think its something like 2 weeks.
