Aqua One 60L My First Ever Planted Tank

DIY CO2 isn't sufficient for one of these set ups, nor is excel, you need pressurised CO2, even with just one tube running.

I have a 60l with 48W of T5 HO that isn't using CO2. All depends on the system.

On my system, I have ADA Amazonia if that makes any difference? It might.

It's nice little system at any rate. Good find. Look forward to seeing it planted up.

interesting ive read your journals before and your tanks look amazing so you must be doing something right :), ive decided to go with fe diy co2 now anyway

i thought i paid a little too much at first but i think those lights are definately not the standard ones that are supposed to come with the tank im well happy with it, broke at the moment so will be a few more weeks before ive setup the co2 and have it planted its gonna be a long wait

thinking of spray painting the back glass black what do you guys think?

Nice setup Llj, I guess experience plays a big part in it, as I know that you're an experienced aqua scaper.

I'd still recommend using CO2 however, while things grow in, then if it were me, once I'm happy with it I'd turn off the CO2 and just let it do its own thing, self sufficiently with minimal water changes.

Why not just get black backing, so if you change your mind it's easy to change. The one I got is black one side the blue the other. Was very resonable from E bay. Shame about the glass lid. I managed to smash the lid on my 71 litre. Looking at getting a clear perspex pre cut for mine to keep the evaporation to a minimum.

ive used a black vinyl background before but i couldnt get it to stick right there was always bubbles or bits coming loose i just thought it would be easier to paint.

i couldnt believe when i sat on the lid minutes after getting home i`ll probably just keep it the way it is though, im just a bit worried about jumpin fish or dust and dog hair getting in my water.

ordered everything i need to setup my co2 most from aaronnorth at a very cheap price cheers :good: still waiting for my substrate from seapets 2 weeks later, after phoning yday to ask where it was...again "it was damaged at the depot and were sending you another tommorow"

took almost 3 weeks but my substrate finally arrived today, was missing the tetra aquasafe i ordered aswell though. heads up to anyone considering using seapets.co.uk...dont bother they are cheap but absolutely terrible service.

I was about too place an order with them. For some C02 stuff & a Power head... Might hold off and see if anybody else has had issues with them now lol :)

some people have probably had a good experience buying from them but the 2 times ive tried ive been messed about from the start, and it seems pretty much everything labeled in stock is in fact out of stock but they wont tell you that.

i think these reviews pretty much sum up what ive experienced http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/www.seapets.co.uk

anyways got my camera charging so will take pics soon, the subsrate looks amazing imo. did a quick scape with my landscape rocks and wood.

plants came today, made a right mess of the hairgrass and lost 99% of the roots trying to seperate it from the rock wool. spent about an hour trying to figure out the cheap filter i bought and when i eventually swicthed it on it was way too loud and spit a load of dust into the tank so thats been took apart and is going on ebay.

had to order a couple more parts for my co2 kit which will hopefully be here tommorow so i can set it up

that will be nice once grown in. I can see a lot of C02 lost from the top of the tank though (it may just be the angle of the pic), the diffuser need to be under the powerhead a little more. Get a few more plants in and this will look good. Well done!

thanks alot ian, i will get more plants when i can afford :) tropica plants cost me a fortune, gonna get some more HC, HG, Val and possibly a mid ground plant. was thinking narrow leaf java fern on the wood and maybe some bacopa australis

ill go move the co2 diffuser now :good:

got my drop checker a perfect lime green colour too :D
