Any fish that just don't interest you?

African Cichlids - pretty but boring.

Albino fish - don't like albino animals in general (though there are a couple of exceptions.)

Altered fish - no explanation needed.

most small fish - (not oddballs)

I personally love livebearers, i understand that many don't like them because they are often labelled as "beginner fish" and they are common in the majority of lfs's, but i suspect that if a fish like puffers, rays or senegal bichirs were as common as them everbody'd hate them too.
There aern't any fish that i do not like but there are many i would like to see less of sold in lfs's for their own good.

Those really yukky albino blind cave fish. Sorry, they really give me the creeps, and make my stomach turn.
In defence of neons, mine are pretty and swim about cheerfully and have actually been really hardy (so far). Admittedly they're not so intelligent, but personally i think thats an advantage -I'd feel rubbish if I thought my fish was smarter than me...

you guys are all so dumb. how can you refuse to put a fish in your tank. every fish is interesting in its own way. i mean danios may look a little plain but if youve ever seen a school of danios swimming around at top speed you wouldnt refuse to keep them. cichlids are very intresting when they breed.

the only fish i probly wont keep again are cories and thats just because i cant seem to keep them alive and not keeping them is for teh fishes safety.

and everyone who says teh smaller livebearers, neons, etc. arent intelligent. youre wrong. just because they choose not to eat out of your hand doesnt mean theyre stupid. my danios knows when to hide when the nets coming into the tank, they know who to stay away from, and if they are in ideal conditions they actually might eat out of your hand

Talk about a troll  !

And if you've read the thread properly there are a fiar amount of us that have said they love all fish or would only not keep a certain fish because they havn't had any success with it.
Read the thread before you open your mouth.

so now im a troll? go back and read some of my other posts. do your reasearch before you open your mouth. im just fed up with the direction this forum is going

Seems a little unfair to call someone a troll for voicing their opinion. BUT. It was also unfair of you to call us dumb. Everyone has personal preferences with ALL animals. As a horsey person I much prefer arabs over the stocky breeds where others are the opposite. Same applies with fish. It's all to do with someones personality etc. It'd very dull if everyone was the same and had the same likes/dislikes etc.
So lets all say bygones and move on eh. :)

P.

OOOOOh Miss dib dabs, and me!

I love horses, but I have a special soft spot for the hot bloods- arabs and tbs, rather than the chunky shires etc... my friend is the exact opposite- she has bought a sweet cob mare (chunk and hair city!) who is lovely, but is not the kind of horse I would ever choose to keep.

Yay another horsey nut. :D I always fancied doing long distance on an arab or connemara. Both beautiful breeds and have such lovely paces. I came that close to buying a 10yr old connemara a few years back. Now I simply can't afford one. My fish are taking all my spare cash. Beautiful though my fish are I really can't ride them. But that's ok cos my health went naff and I can't do all the things I used to anyway. My fish and my two cats are my salvation.
Hugs,
P.

One of the nicest horses I ever met was a big soppy connie x tb mare.. Awww I loved her to bits. So are you not riding at the moment because of your health? Real sorry to hear that if so. :( I am hoping to go back after a two year break- I'm just waiting to get paid!

Its perfectly normal for people to say there are fish they would never keep, not everyone can like all types of fish and to say people are dumb for disliking certain species is not on really.

Personally you'd never catch me keeping bettas or any species of the Poeciliidae genus (common live bearers), i also pretty much dislike central American Cichlids and most African rift valley Cichlids. Puffers dont do it for me either although i have one just to see what all the fuss was about.

dont like leopard danios. ( i have one but not for long) :shifty:
eels
shrimps
jelly beans
and peer pressure would force me to get neons

I have never liked the look of the pop-eye or pom pom goldfish, or fish that get the big bumpy things on their head... flower something or other. I wouldn't buy them for my tank because I wouldn't want to look at them. I'm sure there are people who love them, but they arent for me.

eheheheh, you might place livebearers in your tanks for other reasons, other than decoration though! :p
Mmmmm, feeders...JK :)

I dislike Parrots. They creep me out mega big time, but all others im fine with!

Execpt convicts......but thats more a deep deep hatred thing!

Mmmm Jellybeans.....yummeh. :p
Sorry couldn't resist that.
I wouldn't keep puffers either. They just do not appeal to me at all.
I do like my two platties but am undecided whether I'd have more simply because they make rather alot of mess! They do keep themselves busy eating up any food that drops into awkward places etc but I've never seen a fish that poops so much.
There are some, like the neons, I'd only keep if I could have a large shoal of them.
Not keen on loaches either. Doubt I'll have them anytime in the near future.
Yes Maroonostrich I did stop because of my health and it still isn't at a good enough level to cope with regular riding. I was working towards my stage 3 but it's gone on hold for the second or third time now. Never mind. I shall concentrate on the fish and my children until I can think about horses again.
Hugs,
P.
