They don't, but a small amount should be fine.
 
salt shouldnt be used when cardinal tetras are in the tank.

anything less than a .3% solution isnt going to kill any parasites.
 
I've used salt with neon tetras, not a large amount just abit and didn't do any harm, some breeders keep them in abit of salt.
 
I have used upto 2tsp/gallon with neons, rummy noses & head&tail lights with no ill effects.
