i have had a fish room before but desided to put the tank back in the living room when i moved as i thought with a fish room it made me a exile from the rest of the family when i spent loads of time in their

I quite regret having my fishroom, dont get me wrong its great to be able to keep multiple large tanks and having all the tanks in one place makes maintainance easier, but i really miss seeing my fish all of the time and never get to see them just doing what fish do as the moment i walk into the room they instantly expect me to feed them and rush to the front of their tanks. Theres a lot to be said for having a nice tank in the living room, we have a 5 foot rena as our house display tank but it holds very little interest for me as its just got small commonly seen brackish fish that my mrs likes in it.

i have got 4 kids under 9 years old so a room where i could go for a while in peace and enjoy my fish sounds like bliss to me.

 i really cant blame you there mate, we've got 1 nine year old and sometimes thats bad enough. Fishrooms also make great places to escape to if the mother in law is about, last time mine was over for a few days i managed to make water changes take 7 hours

i have 2 kids and that was the idear for me to escape i even had a lock on the inside :D

but i do agree with CFC i found more things went wrong when i didnt see the tank every time i walked into the room
when the tank is in the living room if you see a big bit of crap in the tank you scope it out and i found if their are problems you seam to see them sooner

the shop i use to work at had one of these gars and it was 3 foot long nice fish but we had it in with wolf fish the problem is, is if the gars havent got the room to grow, its as if the know what size they should be and it attacked the wolf fish a few times because the gar wasn't as big as he should.

they have got a huge appetite and their growth rate is shocking.id say it has grown 2-3" in one month.i had to take out all my bichir out the tank coz it was considering trying to eat them

You wanna see some nice alligator Ghars, go to Underwater World in the Mall of America, located in Minnesota, they have at least 20 Ghars ranging from small up to 8ft with huge girths.... specially as they swim right above you in the aquaria...its super cool!
