Algae Eater

Is it on both sides? I don't know too much about CAE's beyond the general cautions involved in keeping them, but some of the golden variety do have brown or black markings on their sides and sometimes on top of their head.

I had a golden one that also developed dark patches. I don't think it is anything nasty. Mine was fine with them.

Hi this is my first post.i have recently got my first tank (around 2 mounths ago) and i just wanted some advice about my fish.i have got a 200l tank with 5 rummy noses,7 black neons ,3 three striped corydoras,2 clown loaches ,2 honey gournamis , 2 rams , 1 bristle nose plec and 1 siamese flying fox.i just wanted to know should i get another SFF as he looks a bit lonely and maybe 2 or 3 more corydoras as they are a little shy.

thank you and please post back bye xxxx :) :X

I think flying foxes will fight to the death, but Siamese algae eaters prefer to be in groups,
the patch on the cae is fine, just a marking, be carefull tho as i have read they can get aggressive once they are fully grown at, 5-6 inches!

Clown Loaches can grow to 6 or 7 inches (150-200mm). This species is gregarious, forms complex social hierarchies and should be maintained in groups of at least 5 or 6 specimens, preferably 10 or more. When kept singly it can become withdrawn or aggressive towards similarly-shaped fishes, and if only a pair or trio are purchased the dominant individual will typically attack the other(s) repeatedly and may prevent them from feeding. 180cm X 60cm min tank size.
